Thanks for posting, Alex. I’m still trying to get proficient with v1 version. I’ll wait for user reviews if this update help me navigate easier. Discounted upgrade price for existing v1 license - $79.95. http://www.karaokeware.com/compuhostupgrade/

I switch back and forth between CompuHost and Virtual DJ pro here and there to play HD Video filler. It looks like the new Media Player will integrate being able to mix video filler all within CompuHost. Sounds good to me!

Hopefully I'll be upgrading one of my laptops tomorrow, (need my other half by my side to make sure I don't click to fast in my eagerness). Very, very excited!
I'll report back, as soon as I've had a proper play.

Couldn't wait! Downloaded it just now, so far so very good. The main issue I had with compuhost was the silence before tracks - all sorted. Didn't think I'd use the inbuilt player, but after having a look I'm really impressed. Been running the program for about half an hour with no obvious problems (other than I can't locate my english VCD's in the house and I want them) will keep playing - cause I was silly enough to try this before a run of halloween shows and I need to thoroughly test it.
The biggest problem I think I may have is this update may mean I can reduce the amount of back-up stuff I have at my shows, so I may have to rejig my gear around and buy a new smaller flight case.

I don't know, not so sure those improvements mean enough to me to pay 80 bucks. I'm highly disappointed that they spent their resources and time on the video thing instead of working on a DJ player so when I need to play music for dancing, I can control where the song begins (skip intro to Thriller yada yada) and possibly do a little beat mixing on top of that. I would have bought this in a heartbeat if they had made that change alone and paid more!

I love the new features like normalizing the Karaoke songs, skipping the silence in the beginning and end, playing customer disks directly in the program and the support for all different kind of Karaoke formats. Definitely worth the money to me. And I mean, come one... they put so much work and effort into it and $80 is really not that much, that's less than half a show and you made your money back. Cost of doing business and considering what you get for it, really not that bad.
I got a few error messages when installing and setting some of the new features up the first time. But everything is still working fine and the errors have disappeared since. Everything seems to work they way it's supposed to. Going to try it out tonight at my show and report back.

The not playing videos was what originally turned me off of Compuhost to begin with - I think several others that still play karaoke video discs as well.

I love the look of virtual dj.

Alan B wrote: As much as I love CompuHost, the UI looked like Windows 95. Has that changed for version 2? I love the look of virtual dj. no still looks the same, but they did add theme's so you can change the underlaying background.... but either you love the program, which i do. or you don't. i've been doing karaoke on computer since 1999 i think. started with wincdgpro v1 and kept looking for something better, then found pcdj like it for a few years then in 2006 i found compuhost and fell in love with it..... they've incorporated some of my ideas and have made me happy over the years. simplicity at its best. i haven't purchased the v2 yet have to wait tell i can sneek it in the budget next month, but i've played with the demo and love that they added cd+g disc, scdg, vcd, dvd, memory thumbstick, and video playback. and to top it off the audio normalization so all my music will be at the same level...... what else could you ask for.... seems like this update has pretty much covered it all. big shout out to karaokeware, thanks for listening to the dj and not just doing your own thing!!!!!

All that stuff is cool. However, as a host who does as much DJ as karaoke, I want a hybrid that will make the switchover quickly from one or the other smoothly. Don't know of a program out there that does that. Give me that, and I'm there! Tough to switch over from VDJ to compuhost and vice versa smoothly.

I use VDJ and Siglos Karaoke Pro and I can seamlessly go from one program to the other. I set up both programs and when I want to use VDJ all I need to do is activate the video out on VDJ. This will automatically switch the video to VDJ. When I want to go back to karaoke, I just deactivate the video out on VDJ and the monitor switches to Siglos Karaoke Pro. Much like Lonman, I too did not like compuhost because it couldn't play all of the different formats. I selected Siglos Karaoke Pro because it did play all the formats AND it does everything that compuhost just recently added. I'm not knocking compuhost, but at the time I wanted more features, that's why I personally selected to buy Siglos Karaoke Pro. I have not regretted it and have not looked back. Plus the great support was a pleasant bonus! siglos still does the outside disc better, by allowing you to enter the song into the que under the name of the singer like all the songs available to you in the regular database. When the singer's name comes up it allows the singer to sing off the disc without the host having to remember that the singer is singing off disc. I'm still afraid to use the feature in compuhost v2 because I could skip their turn. I like to turn on the auto deactivate feature so if the singer doesn't have anything in the que then they get skipped.

If you can beatmix or fade in and out from karaoke to DJ and vice versa, I take my hat off to you. I want it all in one program. I use compuhost and VDJ. But I wouldn't say it is seamlessly. When I DJ, I am very particular, I want no stoppages, herky jerky transitions, long silences (or short ones even). I hate going back and forth. Each program is great for what it is intended, that's why I use the two of them, they are both the best in my opinion. But I want an all in one program.

I sent them a message requesting that something be added to facilitate us and they responded favorably. I think we can count on something real soon.

well it sounds really nice and all but since I am no longer hosting professionally, I think I shall pass. Mind you the program I use now is downright amazing, especially since I got it for free for being a beta tester.. -James

What I like about it is two things: the ability to rename files when importing into the database when it doesn't match the naming convention and the ability if you chose to use the demo for the renaming and then copy the song database from the demo to the folder housing v1.

I currently flip back and forth between Compuhost and Virtual DJ, but, I have a Denon MC6000 controller for DJing... you would have to manually map all the controls more then likely as I doubt they would have mapping done! I need the knobs and platters myself... so i don't see compuhost integrating DJ ability into its capabilities any time soon. But Karaoke is morphing, so who knows what the future holds. An Exciting New Built-In "Media Player"! To me this is the most exciting feature... I can play customers disks on my computer! How cool is that? I got rid of my disk plyer a while back and all the wires and switches that go with that. So this would be nice.

But can still beatmix and easily sync bpm, loop and other effects. None of that is possible w/CH so I have to have both programs open. Pretty hard to use both and go from one to the other while fading in and out. Also unable to line up songs within CH more than the on deck song. I don't buy into the theory that it's not possible to have an all in one capable of this.

Could just use two sound cards, CH on one & VDJ on the other, then you can fade between the two all you want.
