...Chartbuster or Digitrax?

Well the video samples of each song actually look like Digitrax - black background with orangeish/yellow/white swipe text, whereas Chartbuster was blue background. But they are labeled as Chartbuster.

iCroons just got updated with the catalog and there's like 12,000 of them! What doesn't make sense is that I thought Chartbuster and digitrax were one and the same, and to me, this goes in direct contrast to the karaoke cloud. Why would they do this? I mean why would people pay to rent them on the karaoke cloud when they can permanently own them through another vendor like selectatrack?

Am I missing something?

Makes you wonder what PR will do if they see those songs being used on a computer. Will they try to sue?? I like the idea of being able to buy CB or whatever, but I don't want to get in trouble in doing so.

sued for playing a track you bought from a legal site in a venue paying PRS fees?
pure speculation on my part, but maybe they figured out what the music industry knows.....selling one offs online will bring in more money that trying to sell discs. kinda like me with show them to me, i dont need anything else from that disc, but now they will get my money because i want to buy that one song. I-Tunes is the largest seller of music in the world and walmart (the previous leader in music sales) hardly registers on the charts. If SC did this i would buy more stuff, but i dont need a 35th SC copy of 12 of 15 songs on the disc for the one i want, so i haven't bought any SC material in almost 2 years.

Hi Guys,

The old Chartbuster catalogue is now available to purchase from Selectatrack, although the actual songs will have the Digitrax branding/title screens as they are the new owners of the catalogue.

Enjoy

Now if Chartbuster, while taking their last corporate breaths, sold their tracks to Digitrax, wouldn't Digitrax still have to obtain NEW licensing for those tracks to be able to sell them in Download format? Just wondering if these tracks are being sold legally or not? Or is it just another example of a Big Money Karaoke Company with deep pockets saying to everyone else; "do as I say not as I do"?

Well it was being offered. I went there today and not one CB/DT song was available anymore.

looking back......the previews all had the Chartbuster logo on them, and the tracks are all named as Chartbuster tracks. they have the library but not the trademark so maybe it is a matter of getting all that cleared up? i can't see them offering it if they did not have an agreement ahead of time.

thats weird, I saw the cb logo more than once when I checked. Maybe some just got missed.
Either easy, you can still get them if you go through Icroons. I just tried it so they are there just not on the search engine.

If they were offering 12,000 CB songs - the old catalogue- then they included those with possible licensing questions. D-T, from what I understand, has pruned these tracks from their catalogue, which is why it's smaller.

This could be another reason why the offer was rescinded.

I just went through hell to get credits on selectatrack, (debit wouldn't go through, and paypal is a nightmare for me) and now, the one song I need for my show tonight (Tamia - Me) is no longer available.
The Digitrax Logo on the left with all of the other manus is gone. I hope this gets cleared up, otherwise I have to buy on of the CB 3 disc 50 song packs that it's on, and I already have many of those songs.
