Are you a KJ or a Singer? If you own your own library and equipment (or have rented any part of it from another source), and you have hosted even 1 show, then please consider yourself to be a KJ.

The following is the reason I put up this poll (re-posted from another topic thread): cueball wrote: chrisavis wrote: Right now, Digitrax isn't even marketing to venue's. In fact, if you read the marketing they are doing right now, it is specifically targeted at the home singer and the Pro KJ... And how are they marketing to these people? If you are a KJ, then, more than likely, you already have a large library, and subscribing to the Cloud Service is not of any interest to you (let's keep this simple and not turn this into a pro/con argument about their service/s). If you are just a Singer, you might be interested in subscribing to their service for Home Use Only. The question I have is, how are these people being reached? Many of us here (on this Forum) are either established KJs, or have at least hosted a show or two over the past few years. There are some here that have never hosted a show, and have ONLY gone out to shows so that they could sing. Now, several of us (here on this Forum) have spoken of (and expressed opinions of) the DT Cloud Service. Thus, KJs and Singers here are aware of DT and their Cloud Service. BUT, there are many out there (KJs and Singers alike) that do not have time for (GASP!!!) this Karaoke Forum (or any other Karaoke Forum out there). So, how is DT targeting/marketing/reaching these people? Let's see now... 29 KJs and 1 Singer (based on the criteria I gave in the poll). I think that it would be fairly safe to say that of the 29 KJs (in this poll), most of us are not interested in subscribing to DT's Cloud Service for professional use, mainly BECAUSE we already have a large library, and subscribing to DT's CS would really only duplicate what we already own in our collection/s. That would leave the Home Singer/s that DT would be looking to market. Well, with ONLY 1 Singer (in this poll), how is DT reaching out to the Singers

They are reaching out to singers with email marketing, banner ads on sites, Facebook and other social media, and using KJ's to distribute gift cards.
They are reaching out to hosts in exactly the same ways.
I have not seen any active efforts to reach out to venues directly.

-Chris Something just doesn't seem right with DT. Very secretive (it seems). Very difficult to get any information from them. And, much of the contact is done via telephone. It just seems that they're hiding something from someone. Or is it just my imagination?

I don't like being forced into getting on the phone with them. I would rather it simply be an option. But I see that as a sales tactic more than anything else. If they get you on the phone, they can get you talking to a salesperson. They can feel you out for what you want and make a pitch. If they do it right they can also develop a good rapport. But I like full self-service and instant gratification when I want it.

As you guys know I have been here on the forum. We are not being secretive. Anything that has been asked has been answered out in the open. As I stated before, if you have a question just ask me and I will do my best to get you an answer.
And Yes, I consider myself a KJ also.

-Chris How would they be reaching out to Singers via e-mail? Wouldn't they need to have their e-mail addresses in the first place? When did they get these Singers e-mail addresses? How did they get them? Or is it generalized SPAM that EVERYONE is receiving (your every day average person, who knows nothing about Karaoke) because DT paid for a mailing list from (let's say) Hulu.com? OK, I'll give you the point on Banner ads on sites like Facebook, etc... That's something that can be used to reach out to everyone who logs in, and if they're interested, they'll hyperlink on the banner ad. As for using KJs, well, if what I said in my previous post holds any water, then many of the established KJs probably wouldn't be interested in DT's CS, therefore, they probably wouldn't be interested in responding to DT to receive free gift cards to give out, because they don't want to be bothered with further e-mail promotions or information from them.

Cue, I agree that the majority of us will not be interested in their full library as we already have ours built up. I however am interested in the new releases that they put out. I am pretty impressed with their graphics and sound to be honest over any crap that I currently subscribe to. Also, the cards they have available to pass out for our customers and their own personal home use intrigues me as well. Just another opinion and a different way to view some other options.

And yes.....they may very well buy lists from 3rd parties. -Chris

Simpmech... have you actually purchased some of DT's new releases, or did you just hear some sampling of their stuff?

I only signed up with them when I bought the 12000+ drives. I know a few other KJ's that used to receive the occasional email from them. The fact is, if you registered with their online portal, they collected an email address. That stuff is gold to marketers and I can't imagine that DT didn't obtain that list as a part of the deal. What they do with it is up to them. -Chris

We have had nearly 400 views and only 43 total votes cast. What are you if you are not a singer or a KJ (DJ)?

I have long suspected that 80% of the activity on KS was driven by less than 10% of the registered accounts. I have also long suspected that it was the KJ's more than the singers that drive that same activity. This poll seems to affirm those suspicions.

Preferably female to complement four count – Mamas. I’ll be one of the Papas (although I’ve been called a mother at times).
