It's available on SF320. It's the Korean lyrics written in our alphabit. You can get the English translation online.

As a veteran, I refuse to play this song, and nor will I allow it to be performed.

And as a veteran, I ask that none of you purchase this song because doing so puts money in his pocket.

Because of something he sang 11 years ago in anger when two Korean schoolgirls were killed? Do you refuse to play the Dixie Chicks too?

First, The Dixie Chicks were right. All they said was that they were embarrassed that George W. Bush was from Texas. At the time, "we" were under the impression that Iraq was harboring terrorists, making/possessing chemical weapons and somehow had something to do with 9/11.

Second of all, lest we forget that we are in Korea to protect South Korea from the Communist Dictatorship to the North. This is a conflict or "war" that has had no status change since we began that operation - most people have forgotten that. It can be best described as an unofficial cease fire.

We lost a lot of servicemen in Korea. Most people in the south totally appreciate the protection that we provide and the sacrifices we made. For one of these folks from the South to have the testicular fortitude to come out and rap about their desire that Americans kill or eat each other is an atrocity in itself. It's too bad that the accident happened (and, that's what it was), 11 years passing does not get forgiveness from me and probably the vast majority of other veterans. We know that if we left South Korea tomorrow, the North would invade the day after.

About a decade ago (quote) “he rapped about ‘slowly and painfully’ killing U.S. military members and their families. Eventually, the musician issued a heartfelt apology, expressing great regret at using such harsh words in reaction to political events that had spurned anti-American vitriol at the time in his native Korea. One of his protest performances, in reaction to American soldiers getting away with running over two Korean school-girls with a tank, reportedly included him rapping anti-American lyrics and smashing a miniature model of a U.S. tank on the stage." (end quote).

Just to be clear I am posting this link not to generate heated discussion about a controversial topic but rather to see the light on both sides. Feel free to draw your own conclusion or change your stance after. Please play the vid:

Brian, let's be sure that this is put in the proper perspective instead of the perspective spun by Psy and his PR team.

First, it is easy to apologize when there significant financial consequences if you don't. Very rarely do celebrities stand by their comment or actions when they say or do something dumb.

Next, those little girls weren't murdered, as the video suggests. This was an accident. Tanks aren't as easy to drive as a passenger car. And, as you can imagine, there would be a lot of blind spots. As you know, the UCMJ is far more strict than our State laws. If these soldiers where exonerated under the UCMJ, I have to believe that they were completely innocent.

Having served in Iraq, I know firsthand how citizens of these foreign countries (especially the children) interact with the soldiers. Many want to shake hands with the soldiers, some want to say thank you, and many, many more beg for food. So much so that CENTCOM put out an order that we were no longer allowed to give them food or candy because of the dangers they posed - to themselves (when they chased after convoys) and to Soldiers (as suicide bombers).

We are not in South Korea against the will of the South Koreans, nor their government. We are there because we are protecting them. Many Americans lost their lives in doing so. For some two-bit wanna-be rapper trying to make a name for himself to come out with these types of comments are inexcusable and tramples on the graves of those that lost their lives fighting to protect them from the barbarians to the North. Without us, there would be no South Korea.

He made those comments, and there is no excuse available to him, no perspective to hide behind and no spin that will ever undo the damage.

I respect your decision Brian and the perspective you have. You are a lot more forgiving than I am.

Thank you for reading this, and remember ya'll - there is still a war going on in Afghanistan. Keep those Soldiers in mind this holiday season.

I tried it once, but the English phonetic translation really threw me--it was a lot harder than my attempt at "Sukiyaki," which seemed easier to parse and fake for me.

Troy, so someone, after time, is not allowed to change their mind or regret something they did in the past? Now who is unforgiving? If the Allies did this in WWII then the Japanese, Italians, and Germans would not be our friends now. He did something in a highly charged atmosphere (remember it was not only him but millions of South Koreans. So I take it you have never done anything or said anything that later you regretted.

I'm a veteran too and I respect and support Troy's right to boycott the song, but since there doesn't seem to be a pattern of Anti-American sentiment in the artist's music, I accept Psy's explanation and apologies as genuine and heartfelt. Show me an ongoing pattern of hating Americans and that could change, but I haven't seen it yet...

Barbarella was and always will be a communist sympathizer. Ask any Viet Nam Vet. I don't think that any of them have forgiven her.

I just hate to get into politics of things. A little background (for the young'uns in their 20's & 30's just in case): Jane Fonda went to North Vietnam as an enemy sympathizer. She did photo ops in Hanoi with Victor Charlie (VC) troops, coupled with her anti-American propaganda read & broadcasted over Radio Hanoi that was heard from the Mekong Delta to the Yankee Station, Gulf of Tonkin where the Navy 7th fleet ships were based. Tantamount to aiding & abetting the enemy she wants to prove that American pow’s were not being mistreated by the Viet Cong. That very same year we went back stateside & at the airport were peace activists carrying “Our hero, Jane Fonda” placards as we were spat-upon.

Years later, the Geneva accord talks released the pow’s & they described their years of isolation in a 5’x5’ cells, the torture & degradation they suffered at the hands of the enemy. Jane F called these Americans “hypocrites & liars, never happened”. It took her 16 years to get on a televised apology for her actions as “thoughtless & careless”; apologies I thought not heartfelt or sincere. Forgive? Yes, Life is short; I want to meet my maker in peace. But forget, hell No! How could we? Picture below speaks volumes.

Jane Fonda in Hanoi with North Vietnamese soldiers atop one of the many anti-aircraft guns that shot down many of our Phantom jets, Skyhawks & Corsairs along with American pilots who sat in prison dubbed the Hanoi Hilton by the pow’s for 6, 7, 8 years. Most notable pow was Senator John McCain, almost 6 years in captivity who said “I will forgive Jane Fonda when the Jews forgive Hitler”.

The thing I remembered about Hanoi Jane was when one of the POWs she was "inspecting" slipped her a piece of paper with the word "torture" written on it. She handed it over to the guards and the man who wrote it was taken away. A certain word popular in rap songs comes to my mind every time I think about her... but there was definitely a pattern in play with her...
