What are yours? Where I do my gigs, the start time is 9pm and end time is 12.30am ,but sometimes when the place is really jumping I carry on. Once, unbeknown to me at the time, until 1.30am, now that WAS a good night.

9-1 Sun-Thurs
9-1:30 Fri & Sat

Don't go over too often and if I do it's usually just to finish up a couple singers. The bar wants everyone out by stopping time.

The bar I played at had to set the clock forward about 15 minutes for about a two year stretch. The bar closes at 2 on week nights and 4 on Fri and Sat. We played from 10-2 on weekends but the bar could opt for an additional hour for 50 each. It wasn't uncommon at all to go the additional hour with me throwing in an additional "30 minutes". The bar's absolute cut off was 3:30 and they had to use "their" clock because everyone would be screaming for more.

Once, the bar tender that was the night manager for the night decided she didn't want to go an additional hour. She wanted to clear the bar out so she could close early. The place was packed. The patrons started throwing money on the table and raised, like, 75 bucks in five minutes. I took 25 and bought six bucks of beer with the rest and spread them around. And we played on....

Those were the days.. LOL

9:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. here.

The bar is open until 3:00, so we have an understanding that they have the option to pay me for the extra hour for $35.00 if they want. They've only excercised that option once.

However, I probably stay at least 20-30 minutes late most nights just based on singer tips. It's not uncommon for me to pull down an extra $20-50 to go over a little bit for 4-5 singer that don't mind paying me after my normal working hours.

Ends up being a good deal for everyone. I leave early if it's slow, and the bar doesn't really have to pay me if it's busy to stay late because the singers take care of it.

9:00pm-1:15am one place twice a week

9:30pm-1:00am other place once a week

No overtime ever at either place. Very strict owners :(

lost one gig recently but picked up another. Looking for a weekend one but it HAS to pay
at least $200/4 hours to make it worthwhile for me.

9:00 pm-12:00 am Saturday nights

It is more of a restaurant than a bar and I will play late when it is packed. Except for Cinco de mayo then we play until 2:00 am for extra of course.

Oh hell, I'm all over the place. Here in NJ, the state allows a 3am closing, but each town differs. Weekdays 9-1:30 or 2am, weekends to 2:30am.

However, I'm near the state line, and also work in NY, where they allow a 4am closing, so weekends can find me working until 3:30am.

I have gigs during the week that start as early as 6pm and as late as 9pm. Most are 3 hour gigs and I usually don't go over. Weekend gigs are usually from 9 or 10 pm to close which is around 1:45.

Currently doing a tiki bar on Saturday starting at 4pm. It's great getting done at 7pm. Usually a band setting up as I'm tearing down. Works out well.

Both of my regular shows (Thursday & Saturday) are 8:00 pm to midnight... We might go over for a maximum of 20 minutes or so from time-to-time to accommodate the rotation.

Really? I thought that all bars closed at 2 AM in NJ... at least every place I've ever been to in NJ has stated that they aren't allowed to serve alcohol past 2 AM.

Off on Mondays. 9-1 Thur, 10-2 the rest of the week. The end times correspond with the closing of the bars.

Location 1 - Fri&Sa- 9:30 - 1:30 - I will start 30 min early and stay 15 mins over if there are singers. No pay adjustments here because this is my personal gig

Location 2 - Fri Only - 6p to 10p + Optional hourly rate to Close - The owner wanted to try a 6pm start time to capture happy hour folks and get them to stay over. I was skeptical about this start time but we have been wildly successful with it. We have run 6p - 12mid and a few 6p - 1:30 nights every show. Working out the details to add a Wed night show at same location.

Edited - Location 2 just informed me today that we are adding Wed starting next week. 5p to 9p + Optional hourly rate to Close

Location 3 - Sat Only - 9p to "Close" - Rate is variable based on close time as determined by the bar owner. This gig is 4 weeks old now and we have gone from an 11pm Close to a Midnight Close. This is a restaraunt + bar and the whole establishment is struggling. Not sure this gig will last much longer.

Nope. You can close a bar bar in Washington Twp. on a weeknight at 1 ( A weekend til 3), and drive a mile or two to Hillsdale and party 'til 3 on that same weeknight.. That doesn't mean that a bar CAN'T close earlier, but MAX hours are dictated by the town up until 3, then drive a few miles up the road, cross the state line, and party til 4.

Two of my weekly gigs are at different locations of a prominent chain restaurant. They close at 12, so we're done at 12, although in Delaware they're allowed to go later. (They've never decided to go on, despite the popularity of both shows, so we only run 9-12. Seems kind of foolhardy not to carry on and collect some more money, but hey, it's not my call.)

My other weekly shows go until the state-allotted stopping time of 1AM. My most buzzed-about gig is at a retro, '80s-themed barcade; the karaoke starts when the owner determines it's time to start karaoke, and ends similarly. It's advertised as 9-close, but it's not uncommon to do 10-12:30 based on the owner's ruling. After the patrons leave, the owner, the bartender, the trivia host, and myself plug in instruments and turn into a rock supergroup until 5AM or so. It's the most fun show I've ever had.
