I have Karma for my main program but need something for a backup computer. I hopefully won't ever need it, hence the reason I don't want to spend much on it, but something just for the off chance that my main program or computer goes down. I downloaded karafun to try, but wasn't really impressed. When I loaded my library the titles came up really strange (long path like names) so scrolling through the list doesn't do much good.

Any ideas?

Karma in trial mode on your backup laptop. Works just like licensed copy except will only allow 3 songs in the queue at one time.

As RLC notes, keep Karma in Trial Mode on the backup PC. The Karma activation license can be moved from one PC to another and unlimited number of times.

If....
a) original PC still boots and...
b) Karma still launches and...
c) you have an Internet connection....

Click on Menu --> License --> Remove License

If you can't launch Karma to Remove License, you can use the Customer Menu at the LatshawSystems.com site to Reset your license up to 3 times per year. Once reset, use the activation code on the backup machine to activate Karma.

I have had to do both several times over the past 3 years as I move or upgrade computers.

or.....if you just need to get through the night on your backup laptop and can't or don't want to transfer your license key...just run it in trial mode...making sure you don't try to load any more than 3 songs in the queue at a time...you might have to keep a manual rotation list to get by also.

winamp? Free

Had an issue once and had to run for about 1 hour with just winamp. Had to unzip songs to play them, but it worked. It was almost like going back to the days of actual CDG discs, having to search through my mp3+G files to find a song.

Probably could have done it all night if I needed to.

Thanks, all. I appreciate the feedback. I have Karma on my back up computer from when it was my main one, but couldn't figure out how to use it in trial mode. Thanks!

MTU allows to put a fully functional program on 2 computers. I have it on my main show computer & my laptop for backup. Also have my discs and players on site at all times so I always have a back up no matter what happens.

Siglos Pro does as well. for a backup situation, and it's $99.00 for two installs.
