Not that it's a big deal or anything, but last week I finally hit the milestone of singing and having 500 different songs in my personal history,,, ,, after all,, it's ALL about the quantity, not the quality Since I never claimed to be a "good" singer,, But, I do have admit, I only sing about half of them more than two or three times, some of them I have only screeched out once. Sing your hearts out peeps!!

I do care, mrscott. Just waiting to accumulate more songs added to my repertoire. I'm up to 405, getting closer to that 'milestone'.

Thanks Brian,,, 400 is a really good milestone too Way to go!! I really didn't expect much of a response,, but I did think "somebody" would have said something after it being posted a few days ago. Seems like everyone on here is more interested in pointing fingers and laying blame and focusing on the negative aspects of what is going on in the karaoke world. Sad that they can't focus on the reason why they got into this business,,, "having fun" and enjoying a passion... Makes me wonder where their heads are. Here we are in a forum, "FULL" of people who have one thing in common (singing),,, and that they would want to embrace these sort of "milestones" and give kudos,,, but "nope",,, it's a "dog-eat-dog" or "I'll get mine" attitude.. day for humanity

It is a big deal, WTG Scotty.......you've gotten 140 views, but I guess nobody on here wants to see you get a big head... ......I'd just like to get a song or two down pat, but I tend to be on the lazy side.

Well,, a big head is not gonna happen,,, simply cuz I know how "non-talented" I am,,, but that isn't why I posted.. It's about spreading some of the passion and seeing how it's received.. Well,, it looks like people just are wrapped up in their own little selves and forget how much of an impact each of us has on the world around us. Honestly Johnny? I am finding this forum to be self defeating anymore. It seems to be more of a place to post complaints and put each other down for how we operate/think, rather that a forum of comradery between fellow hosts. If more people would put the positive aspects and ideas of our craft, then we could ALL learn from each other, instead of wanting to not come here anymore..
Sorry,, that's how I see things on here.

Damn, you’re a hairy ape, may I suggest Gillette razors (addressed with a friendly term of endearment). Same here. I get up in the morning, drink a cup of coffee, go to ks & read the posts I think would brighten up my day. For my second cup, I go to the ‘bickerings & lashings’ section strictly for my own amusement. I’d rather not participate.

A grown man looking for pats on the back because he has attempted 500 songs. Maybe it belonged in the singers section where everybody tells each other how wonderful they sound; even better than the original singer is one of my personal favorite comments that people leave for some of the worst singers out there.
I guess compared to the people who sing the same 5 or 10 songs for years on end, 500 songs is a lot but to go fishing for compliments so blatantly is probably why most peoplr ignored it until you started letting everyone know that your feelings were hurt.
I thought it was going to be a thread about the Sound Choice MILESTONE disc. When it turned out to be what it was; I couldn't hit the BACK button fast enough. I'm just not that interested in how many songs a person has tried to sing. Sing one and put it on the singers showcase and you'll get plenty of people to tell you that you sing great if you need a little qiuck me up in the morning.

BF4L,,, you simply don't get it, do you?
This wasn't a thread about me, it's a thread about sharing our commonality, and the love of karaoke. If we share our ideas, our goals, AND our accomplishments, it can inspire others to do the same. This forum has gone downhill fast with the negative thoughts and posts from several users, and it was my intention to share something positive. But, with the type of attitude that YOU and several others show, it won't be long before people who come here to get ideas or grow as hosts stop coming around.
I know there will always be differences of opinions on certain subjects, that's part of business... and that is OK too. However, when a simple little post like mine is totally ignored by EVERYONE until something is said,, it shows me that it's too late for this forum. And YOU have succeeded in bringing others down to your level.
Yes, there are others who feel the exact same way I do, and don't come here much anymore, or at all. Hopefully by bringing a little good natured "back patting" as you call it, that we can at least seem to support our fellow counterparts..
Bruce, I feel sorry for you,, ,simple as that.

Reminds me of that old saying “It only takes one negative comment to crush a dream”. Falls into two kinds – one will say whatever it takes to bring you down, the other to bring you up. By the same token it will also take as little as one positive comment to turn things around & brighten your day. So, sing away & happy karaoke’ing’ mrscott. Peace bro(s).

You feel sorry for me??? That is truly funny. I'm not the one begging for compliments. I've sung thousands of songs but you don'r see me trying to get people to praise me for doing so. If you want people to comment on your singing, it belongs on the singer showcase.

Congratulations! Are you only counting songs you've sung in live karaoke, or ones you've recorded and posted online? I'll have to figure out what my count is.
I have counted how many states I've done karaoke in, but now I can't find the number. I think it's about 28, though...
I wouldn't take it personally - people are just busy, probably.

OK, I think I've figured it out, and mine is somewhere between 250 and 300. I wish I had kept track all these years! That would be a cool list to have - what venues I'd been to and what songs I sang. I never think of these things until later....
I didn't count private gatherings, just public karaoke, like in a bar.
I have over 3 times as many songs recorded, but there are quite a few I would never sing live because they're too slow, too boring, too hard to sing live, or the KJ wouldn't have them... various reasons. I try to sing upbeat songs in karaoke most of the time.

Way to share your accomplishments I think singing in that many places is awesome and very note worthy. Do you have ambition to sing in all 50 states someday? I think that would be so cool. As far as me singing and recording? nope,, never have recorded anything. And probably never will.. but anyway,, keep singing and having fun!!! Isn't that what karaoke is all about?

Congratulations mrscott!!
A couple years ago someone posted that they had sung 600 different songs without repeating any. I took that as a challenge and compiled a list of 600 songs for myself. I finally got through them all a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I really enjoyed doing different songs every week and I felt a sense of accomplishment having completed my list. I'm now working towards 700 but I've given up on the not repeating any part.

This is exactly the type of response I like to hear To see how each of us challenges/inspires others to do things in a positive manner. Way to go harpman!!! I think you should have a party when you reach 700, 800,, 1000??? Celebrate the achievements. It's like Dolly Parton said once,,, "Sometimes you just have to toot your own horn"
