So I guess the only company for new music now that we can legally use without question is Allstar? They do sell downloads too, are those okay? How do we know the songs are licensed. Too many questions. I feel like we're all soon going to be targets every time we're out doing a show, disks or no disks. No way to do business.

Yeah, the whole thing is getting ridiculous. They are taking all the fun out of this industry.

I'm going to contend that if you have a disc or have paid for a download, you are good to go. If the company you buy the product from wasn't licensed and you didn't know that, you could sue them, the same as the CAVS/CB mess.

KaraokeGod73,
All-Star advises right on the site If you are a KJ or are going to use the songs in a commercial setting to order on disc. We have found they arrive quickly so we don't miss instant access.

Blessings
Athena

I doubt you could sue the manu and win. There were no damages to you as an end user.
The CAVS/CB thing was due to breach of contract and they quit paying the fees for the SCDG production - in which I believe CAVS was sued at one point because of it for selling unlicensed SCDG's that were supposed to be which is more than likely why they sued CB for damages and won
Doesn't mean the rest of the CB library wasn't licensed - although one can never tell these days. But like said if buying and playing unlicensed music is a concern, i'm sure you knowingly don't play brands like All Hits, SGB, Dangerous, Backstage, Helluvadisc, Music Maestro, Top Hits Monthly and the list goes on.

Yeah, I currently only use the CB 12,000+, the entire SC Gem Series, 100 other SC discs, about 150 DK discs, and one Legends disc. I had 10 years of karaoke discs stolen last summer in a break-in, and have had to start over. I lost stuff that I'm sure I'll never find again.

When I said you could sue them, I meant if you were busted for illegal music you have bought in good faith from a reputable company.

I still doubt it would happen unless the original artist themself came in & said HEY this was never authorized - or the club you are playing didn't pay their PRO fees & they got sued and decided to dig further into the kj's library.

This is probably one of the most extensive listings of MM library. You can download a printable text format catalog but its M/Word & not Excel. That's a start! Also, they have an Inquiry Request Form & phone # if you need more help. http://www.starrkaraoke.com/mm.htm

kjpro.com or musicbookdeluxe.com would have almost (if not all) Music Maestro library listed in their databse.

Yup, I would use KJ Pro, since I already use it for my books. Hit the master databook, click to MM, and click filter. After that, a single click on the "Export to Excel" button and you're done. Five minutes?

Huh????????????? Joe, you quoted a line that Chip posted on April 25, 2012 from a topic thread that was asking for the same information as this one. I don't get the correlation of the quote to welcoming Chip back when you're the one who quoted from his (almost) 1 year old post.

Nailed it. Thanks, Frank. Of course, thanks to Cue for pointing out my error as well....
