8) Just saying timberlea rights historically have been placed into law by the people that would gain the most by their codification. The people who write the laws are the minority, not always for the good of the majority. Even today a small group of lobbyists can have more influence over our government than the will of the majority. Such as in the case of sensible gun control. Our whole process of government is a balancing act between the rights of the individual v.s. the good of the public at large. No rights are absolute and everything is compromise. Have a blessed day.

I just want to understand this thing.......they collect about 4 billion dollars last year, pay about $10,000 on average to the artists, and keep about 400 million.......just estimations on my part. Kinda seems like a constant Tort action, without judge or jury. Like J.P. Morgan said, collect your clients money, and keep enough for yourself to amass a fortune.....

Well according to the ASCAP site on its financial report, they collected $941Million and paid $827Million in royalties. I would imagine the rest would go to rents, salaries, overheads, etc.

I doubt if the holders would have done as well or as inexpensively if they collected on their own.

827 million devided by how many artists.......the people that work for ascap make the real money......like a tort lawsuit, the settlement is devided up by thousands of plaintiffs, and the several lawyers make the real money.
