I e-mailed them. The old KJ Media Pro is nothing more than a paper weight now. You will not be allowed to access anything on that drive with this new system. So, I don't think I will bother. Got screwed once. Not gonna go that route again.

Unless you had credits you didn't use, how did you get screwed? The cost of the original KJPro system was for the external USB drive. A drive which you still have and can re-format and use any way you like. Hardly a paperweight.

The new system does not even require you to buy a drive...you can just download them all. I am on the fence due to the new song cost, but I don't feel "screwed" by this information...just disappointed.

How about the fact that I spent $600 on new books with thousands of tracks listed that I didn't have unlocked that I now have no access to? I am so sick of trying to explain to people that they can't sing every song in my book that I am about to throw them out and re-print them again.

2. Yes, I do still have the songs that I unlocked, but at a higher cost per song considering I had to purchase the drive and Compuhost.

3. I didn't need another drive, except for the use of the media pro.

And I now have to reprint my books, for a second time, due to the media pro songs.

I guess my glass is half full. I am in the same boat, yet I don't feel "screwed" at all. Disappointed? Certainly. It was a great system that I wish still worked, but I got everything out of it that I paid. I still use Conpuhost which I believe is the "best of breed", I used all my credits that I paid for and I am using the USB drive as a backup. I re-print my books quarterly anyway.

Since you feel so strongly about it, why don't you just sell your USB drive and copy of Compuhost on eBay and recoup a good 50%-75% of that money? You can keep the songs you unlocked. That would certainly lessen the blow you feel you have received.

Actually I am very happy you posted this as I did not know they were waiving the fee, which was a sore subject for me as well. It's only $30, but it was on principle. I may take the plunge now.

I agree with everything Bazza has said.

I also got the activation fee waived. Thanks CompuHost. There are many benefits to the new system such as you do not have to dedicate an external HD for the unlocked songs. You could download them to a dedicated folder on your computer and do away with the drive altogether, having one less thing to have to hook up.

And of course the biggest thing is that the songs are not just Chartbuster songs but most of the karaoke manufacturers. So, you now have your choice of which version to get.

Yes, because of Chartbuster going out of business we have suffered the consequences but CompuHost has stepped up to the plate with a better offering than the original KJ Media Pro HD.

it's too bad zoom isn't a part of this, now that would be worth the cost of buying compuhost just to unlock the songs in my opinion.

All star would be a welcome addition as well, they have produced some decent quality tracks, and there song choice seems to a a little more in line with what people want to sing

I was about to finish signing up but they want 99.00 a month just to be able to unlock the songs I may use. I doubt with my already rather extensive library that 99 bucks a month is worth it. I thought it was going to be a pay as you go type thing where you buy a bulk amount then download or unlock what you want to use until you reach that purchased amount. It almost appears (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that you don't actually buy the tracks you use. It seems to be you pay to keep them unlocked. Month by month. I'll stick to downloading singles and purchasing discs in bulk off ebay. I use compuhost. But I can get scdg's at a good prices.

i could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the $99/month is for the cloud option.

you don't NEED the cloud to unlock songs, just credits

I didn't see that option when i was signing up. I guess I'll try it again. I like to idea of being able to grab stuff I don't already have without having to purchase a bunch of stuff I don't want.

Yeah, I had that problem too once I ran out of credits. But I reprint my books quarterly anyway.

On a different note, if you are spending $600 in books, you are either printing a LOT or have a very expensive design!

I print about 15 books, mostly by artist and a few by title. I print them at Staples and spend a lot to have the nicest looking books in the area. About $40+ bucks a pop. I print annually or longer if they last. My updates are laminated, and get added when I reprint.

The Third KJMediaPro Download was released today! Only 10 songs, but all DigiTrax from their June 2013 Country set. A little over two weeks since the last release, not bad.

Actually, you can buy all the songs on Karaokecloud.com for $14.99 or $1.49 a track. IF I ever unlock one, it will cost me $1.99. I don't think I will ever unlock all of them, probably more like one, maybe two. The question is which ones? :?

Typically, I keep 15 credits on the laptop, 5 on the backup. I have 82 credits remaining from the original 100 I bought back on May 1st. When I unlock a song from the KJMedia Pro, it's usually a song I've never heard of. It's nice not having to buy them, until they are needed. 8)

i guess my point was they are available one at a time on the cloud for the same price and not having to spend $200.00 up front to get that price.

Since June 13th, I have used 32 credits (half new songs, half old) and downloaded another 183 new songs (mostly DigiTrax, some SBI). I think I'm getting my money's worth, my only complaint is the file names are all over the place and you're not suppose to rename them, but I came up with a work around.

Correction, you provide the hard drive and download the tracks, takes a few hours depending on what you have for internet. You don't pay $200 up front to get that price anymore. It's a one time fee of $29.99 plus the cost of credits unless you buy the 100 credit option from the getgo. Then it's just the cost of credits.

Here is the email I recieved from the sales team:

Thank you for your interest in the new MyKjMedia Karaoke Content Delivery solutions.

Answering your inquiry,

First, as a past Chartbuster KJ Media Pro HD user and as a courtesy to you, we'll be happy to waive the $29.95 activation fee as it applies to the new MyKJMedia KJ Media Pro service.

However, please be reminded that Chartbuster, the previous licensee of the KJ Media Pro HD program closed its' doors and ceased operations in May/June 2012. We've unfortunately been made aware of the fact that immediately preceding their closing, they were actively promoting and selling hundreds of credits to possibly unsuspecting users at "fire sale" discounts, evidently without disclosing that immediately upon closure of the business, the distribution licenses as they applied to the song selections would be rendered invalid. Consequently, the previous Chartbuster selections are no longer licensed and therefore may not be legally distributed or unlocked/purchased within the new KJ Media Pro service as administered and marketed through MyKJMedia.

Finally, regarding remaining, unused credits previously purchased through Chartbuster, all requests to transfer remaining Chartbuster credits to the new MyKJMedia KJ Media Pro system must be directed to, and require prior authorization from the applicable content licensee/provider, currently DigiTrax Entertainment LLC. You may wish to contact them directly with such a request.

We hope this sufficiently answers your inquiry.

Have a great day/evening,
Sales Team

Chartbuster was the slimiest of Slimy. And I feel strongly Chartbuster slime is alive and well with a few new names and a brand new legal blanket to hide under. I could very well be wrong, but why risk it?
