I was at a karaoke show awhile back and they used a seprate laptop for the singers to type their requests into that must have been liked to the KJ's laptop. Anybody know what software, hardware programs that do this? Thanks Steve

Just a Kiosk program. There are 3 out right now. Compuhost has one that works only with their program Tricerasoft has one that works with any software Songfinder has one that works with any software. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=22248

Keep in mind the difference between "works with" and "integrates" with.
Of the ones mentioned so far, only one of those is an integrated solution and locks you into using CompuHost.
The others are stand-alone applications and you have to manually take data from the Kiosk submission app and type that into the Karaoke program.
There are no Kiosk/Remote song submission apps that integrate with any karaoke apps that I am aware of.

How soon we forget (sigh). The first, the original, Sacks-O-Nuts ShowHoste. So it's ugly, and should probably be run on Win98. Nanny, nanny, nanny to all who said my balloon wouldn't fly.

The money saved on printing books and updates, made it all pay for itself

personally, i prefer putting the songs in myself as there are still many people who put in a song for Tom, Big T, Tommy, T Bird, Thomas, Etc all the same person so i like having control of the rotation which you do not get from the automatic type.

That's the great thing about the CompuHost Kiosk, it has a manual setting (which I use) and the Remote Attendant, which gives you a choice of full or semi automatic.

Same here. I absolutely do not want to rely on the program. I want to actually have hands on as to what is going in the rotation.

-Chris Mine does, but it doesn't matter because it is not available to the general public as of yet, and I'm not sure it ever will be

I know my inquisitiveness can lead me to dangerous situations but would you care to elaborate further on that? Just as far as to what is it & why not (general public availability)? Disregard if you feel uncomfortable to reveal the info. I’ll understand. Peace, bro!

Compuhost hands down! It may be just me, but I do believe it is the easiest to use, least amount of crashes, and has more features than most..

So what you are telling me is that your program, that you may never let me use, will automatically insert a singer into my Karma rotation with the song they selected from a kiosk or mobile device? And it will do the same for CompuHost? And Hoster? And Sax and Dotties? And (insert your favorite karaoke program here) -Chris

I just got back from a cruise in the Med and stumbled across a really nice set up while there. They had a a very nice touchscreen system that I understand is not sold outside of Europe... But the song request feature they used together with it was what truly caught my attention. The host was nice enough to show me how it worked and gave me a link to try it. It's called eSongbook. They had some ipads mounted throughout the bar and we were browsing the songbook using our phones as well. We could search for songs and send our requests which went directly into his player. He said that depending on how busy he is, he also turns off the direct add feature on the player and had an ipad on a stand that he was managing his singer list on.... So I was dying to give this thing a try! It's a subscription service (billed via paypal 14.00 a month)... I uploaded my song list in excel and presto - I was up and running. It gives you both a unique url and a QR code to share with your singers. The back end allows you to control what they can or can't do as well as upload images that will display on browsers if inactive. The icing on the cake was that you can also print out your books in pdf or excel... I spent the rest of my trip playing with it and was taking song requests from my friends in the US while I was sailing around Europe... Sweet! I saw that they put up a video on youtube and the link to join is in the video description. Also, since they don't bill until the 1st of the month for the following month it's free to use until then..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpM9VTg9sdU

Interesting solution. Too bad the player software isn't sold separately. Would love to check it out.
