Yep that would destroy my show if I were not allowed to play those anymore. I noticed you missing several though. ALmost all the Seattle grunge bands (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and more), Heart, Jimi Hendrix

WOW I guess it's crank up the Country as I didn't see many country stars that didn't want you to sing their stuff.
There were a few but mostly older stars and none of the newer stuff.

At least we still have The Beatles, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney (and Wings), and John Lennon (unless Yoko Ono says otherwise).

First, my thanks to Gretchen for supplyng the list.
After looking it over, I note the following:
Were I to remove the tracks from my OMD based show- which, of course, I wouldn't- for me it would be about 14 artists that mattered, 2 or 3 songs apiece. No real biggie.
However, the principle sucks, and if Kurt can pull of what HE'S trying to do- awaken the giants- it will probably get a whole lot worse- especially for karaoke mfrs. who are still producing, unlike SC.

What exactly does this mean? Are we supposed to remove these artists from our libraries?

Just call your show a religious worship event! Under copyright laws, songs performs as part of a religious worship are exempt from paying copyright royalties, but the lyrics cannot be posted for all to see.

dmmagic wrote: What exactly does this mean? They merely payed off for the unpermitted usage to relieve liability.
Jim....REALLY? Your own credibility for the sake of SC? I have nearly fifteen years work in this area of the law and a degree from a top law school to back up my opinion. I have also reviewed the relevant documents before offering my opinion. You can't say the same, and you offer nothing to back up your opinion. It seems that my credibility is not at issue or, for that matter, in question. Please stop making false statements--and that includes the statement that the materials in question are not licensed or legitimate.

Boy I love this forum! I am amazed at all the people that spend more time pondering these questions than i do. And I do appreciate the information discussed. Enjoyable reading but I'll keep my two cents out of it as It is uninformed and probably isn't even worth the two cents. But these are some gems being posted here. Thanks guys for posting

A lot of the information presented in the past few posts points out one major factor: there seems to be a lot of areas in the whole process that lack regulation. It would appear that, going by the actions of some of the viable manufacturers, they are vying for regulation on the user end, which some might seem as ironic. Given that many of these practices between publishers and users in movies, television and radio occur daily, if not hourly, and the regulation is not being pushed on them, it is hard to conceive that there is a priority level to do so in such a relatively miniscule, niche market as commercial karaoke. That is not to say it cannot happen, but the uphill climb seems pretty steep, and full of potential pitfalls, on the manufacturer AND the user end...

But nothing Sound Choice? If you go to Clark via the link on the SC site for "Custom CDG" then you will get to the SC songs. I remember once seeing a Clark site that had MM and Priddis but it may be a different one. The one that you link to via SC will have SC and Abraxa songs on it.

Wow, I see what you're saying. It almost looked exactly the same but was linked from SC. Cool thanks. http://www.mykaraokecdg.com.au/customer/home.php here's the link for others. First song I checked. Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Yes they have it. That disk just sold for over a hundred bucks on Ebay. Yet it can still be legally downloaded. I'm glad I read posts on this forum.
