DT has stated that the downloads are also for KJ use in shows.
Re-read this and thought about it. Now, again, IMHO, they are only saying that THEY are OK with KJ usage, and can't give publisher permission.
i missed the publisher permission written on the disc, where was that?
PLEASE NOTE: I am answering a question, not initiating discussion...
It's not that they give permission on the disc, but that nothing on the label says they don't. While they might state that unauthorized pro use is a no-no, they do not specify what is "unauthorized".
Many download sites specifically state that their tracks are for home use only- meaning specifically that they cannot be used for a U.S. based karaoke show- period.
As for DT- again- while their wording can be misleading, it can also be used to shift liability back to them. All I suggest- so very easy and no reason for argument or debate- is simply to make a copy of the site page that states that their tracks are OK for KJs to use and print it out.
Then just stick that paper in your file cabinet in case you need it. Whether publisher permitted or not, this gives the KJ the same opportunity as a OMD host to shift the liability back to the supplier. What's to debate about that?
