Hey guys. I just have some questions regarding manu's more just to satisfy my curiosity...
Does Zoom = Pioneer and *new* Allstar = Pop Hits Today from the old days?
And someone mentioned on here a while back that SBI might stand for Slep Brothers International.. I know Soundchoice is involved with SBI/Abraxa, and would make alot of sense... Anyone know if that's true or what it actually stands for?

The Sleps have NOTHING to do with SBI, Sunfly, or any of the other U.K. Mfrs. They had tried to be an advocate for them against piracy, but the U.K.s weren't interested.
And All Star is NOT PHM. I HAVE noticed that some All Star is recycled Sweet Georgia Brown.

Well Abraxa WAS on the SC custom disc site exclusively and since SBI music is the same as Abraxa - never know, it's all speculation, but All Star is NOT Pop Hits monthly in any way. And Pioneer is not Zoom in any of their tracks.

Usually when 1 Manu morphs into another, they start by reissuing the original tracks from the 1st incarnation. And, if they don't do that, you usually will recognize the style of word-swipes (or trade dress) as being from this Manu as versus a different Manu.

Ok, here is the answer I got about SBI:
"Hi Bobby,
Oh no.... I can guarantee you it definitely does NOT stand for "Slep Brothers Inc." nor are we they.
We have had a few people contact is the past week asking the same question as you. Maybe they are all from the same circles as you. Considering this, my manager has informed me that we may be running an online competition soon for some free tracks if anyone comes up with a good name as to what SBI stands for. We won't be looking for the correct answer. Just the best, most inventive name.
However, as we are not looking for the correct name, I can inform you that the initials SBI do not really stand for anything these days. Many years ago our company was doing some business under the name "Soundback International" which became shortened to SBI, but we've only been known as SBI for a long time now and the initials SBI stand for SBI in their own right.
I hope that helps and keep a look out for the competition. You now have a head start on thinking up some good names ;o)
Kind Regards Keith"

From their website: "What do YOU think SBI should stand for? Email your suggestions to sales@sbiglobal.com - there may be a prize for the best answer!" http://sbikaraoke.com/site/s-b-i

Well I came to the conclusion because Zooms splash screen looks eerily similar to Pioneer's old laser disc... you know.. the one before the cheesy video . And new song releases under Allstar had swipes that were identical to PHT. Both cases seemed audibly close as well. Figured I'd ask anyways. Lonman wrote: Could be they were using the same program to swipe. A lot of manus used Karaoke Builder for years. That probably explains the Allstar/PHT thing

Glad to hear that it's not Slep Brothers Inc. That would be unfortunate.
I vote Sing Big Inc!
