Has the blog http://soundchoicelasvegaslawsuit.com/ created by Robert J. Kossack, Esq been taken down? For the past 4 days one gets a 403 Forbidden and 404 Not Found page. Very interesting. I wonder why it disappeared.

Not that I care, but I get a 403 - Forbidden which usually indicates a permissions issue. Most likely something was tweaked on the web server which mucked things up.
The domain name is registered through March of 2014.
But it could very well be that the site content was removed and DNS still points to the same location instead of a placeholder.

It's simple, he had to take it down due to his suspension. He is not allowed to practice law or give legal opinions while suspended. Anything to do with law on his sites has to be taken down, whether he put it there 10 years ago or 10 minutes ago. So nothing nefarious, he is just abiding to the terms of his suspension.

Chip has checked with the site owner and the site was hacked about 9:15 am a few days ago along with a bunch of other sites. Their ISP is working on preventing/blocking another attack before the restoring the sites.

I think that is a hefty assumption. The pee is in the pool. Meaning, what he posted is out there, replicated and cached, likely in a variety of places. You don't get the pee out of the pool with out draining the entire pool. No one is capable of draining the Internet. There is no way to remove it from the Internet with full certainty. -Chris

Timberlea, you know that I don't go in for personal negativism, but that may well be one of the most ridiculous posts that I have seen. While, he certainly is suspended from practicing law, he- and everyone else- is perfectly free to give legal opinions. That would not be part of the terms of his suspension, as any layman is allowed to do so. My error message only indicates that which was stated above and nothing more. Apparently a security issue. Why speculate? Better to wait it out and see what happens...

Would it take over a week for his server to fix the hack? The dns host for his blog, http://eboundhost.com is operational. http://whois.domaintools.com/soundchoic ... awsuit.com

Still plenty of reference to it on Bing - http://www.bing.com/search?q=Sound+Choi ... &sp=-1&sk=I agree that it shouldn't take a week to bring it back up. If it was a hack then it should be back up in 24-48 hours tops unless 1) the ISP sucks, or 2) they had no backups (in which case #1 still applies). Of course, the ISP may also be in no rush to bring the site back up if the owner isn't putting any pressure on them. Regardless, I do find it odd that it has been down so long. But I also didn't invest nearly as much time as some people did monitoring it so I don't feel any sense of loss. -Chris

The ISP blog entry describing the attack is dated July 31st. That was 21 days ago. If, as Insane's post suggest, Kossack's blog was accessible 4 days prior to Insane's posting here (and I personally believe Insane probably check multiple times a day), that would mean Kossack's blog didn't go offline until Aug 12th - almost 2 weeks later.
Also, the ISP blog says "Our network engineers were able to resolve this problem and have the impacted network segments back online within 55 minutes." So they are saying the issues was resolved the same day.
Additionally, a DDOS attack only causes a server to become overwhelmed and refuse additional connections. It does not delete content. It does not change permissions on the server or to files on a server. The current error is both a 403 - Access Denied and a 404 - Content Not Found. A DDOS attack would explain the 404 (except the ISP claims that is resolved) but it does not explain the 403. In fact, a DDOS is not even a "hack" on the server itself. It is the equivalent of having a 1 Cent Sales at Macy's but having zero registers open. Nobody gets what they want even though the product is right there. That would be a 404 only.
Very unlikely this is a DDOS issue.
-Chris
This is not a DDOS attack unless the ISP is lying about having resolved it.

The guy's livelihood has taken a big hit. Why would he continue to pay to keep that site up if it were up for renewal?

What I get is:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Which tells me just that I don't have permission to access the server and neither do any of you so it's not down it's just locked and we can't get into it.
