I recently bought a bulk of Top Tunes from a store closing. I have right at 220 no repeats, my issue is it takes some discs an hour to rip, some will just not rip at all and others come out with scrambled lyrics and audio issues. Is there a program that will work quickly with no errors?

I am sorry if this has been covered in another posting, please link info.

Do you have Sweet Georgia Brown?? Much of Top Tunes was recycled SGB. But I have one of their double sets, and disc one ripped fine, disc 2 took 5 hours.

I have a few dozen Top Tunes discs and I've never had a problem ripping them any faster or slower than any other.

I use AudioGrabber, it's a freebie that is very easy to configure and can be run in multiple instances so that you can rip as many discs at a time as you have drives in your computer.

The program automatically does a checksum to verify the copy.

You can tweak the program to get the best results with your hardware.

I don't know what you're ripping with, but I've had good luck switching software with different discs.

And just a thought... if they are "new old stock" try holding them up to a light source and check for pinholes. That would indicate that the discs are deteriorated and your hardware is doing its best to extract what information it can.

Actually EVERY Top Tunes disc I own are a clone music wise to SBI!

Never had any problems ripping them with MTU products. About 5-10 minutes per disc.

...I can definitely relate to this problem with SOME (not all) Best Karaoke, Top Tunes and All Star cdgs taking FOREVER to rip or the Drive not recognizing the CDG at all. However, with a little patients and trial-n-error, I was able to rip them in a timely manner.

...I have used the following three programs KJRIP-n-ZIP, Power CD+G Burner and CDGRip. I have also used three different Laptops that are capable of reading cdg discs and even an External Lite-On Drive. My findings are, there's no rhyme or reason. Sometimes if one program doesn't work, one of the others will. Sometimes, if I see the first track, being ripped, is taking a long time, I will just cancel the process, take the disc out of the drive, put it back in and try it again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't, I will try one of the other programs. Just keep in mind, if it's taking a long time to rip the first track, don't click the eject button on the software or you will loose your entries (not good if you had to type in the Artist & Title manually), just push the eject button on the drive and then reload the disc. The format and speed settings don't matter either (Bin, Wave, MP3+G, Zip), (Rip speed of Minimum to Maximum) and or (Bit rate of 128-320). However, I ripped all of mine in MP3+G, at a speed of 1x-4x and at 320 bit rate.

...Again, it's not all of theses discs, just certain ones. Maybe it's the older ones? As far as recycled Sweet Georgia Brown. LMAO.... Smooth is funny, it appears he thinks "ALMOST" EVERY Karaoke track that was ever made is RECYCLED Sweet Georgia Brown... He's funny :D !!!

What's the ripper prog? I also ripped a lot of top tunes with no probs. This is the ripper I've been using for years. If this is not the one you have I recommend try it & download a free trial. http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_powercdgburner.php

Well he has called it on the Skynyrd Chartbuster/SGB and the Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath SGB/All Star - those are in fact the same as the SGB music.
I know every Top Tunes disc I own are musically identical to SBI, but I don't own alot of Top Tunes disc. And doing a quick review on the couple that I own comparing with the All Hits/SGB/Idol Makers (all the same despite what a couple insist), the Top Tunes are in fact the same as these as well, so SBI either used the same source for these tracks - or they copied them as well.

...I won't deny that SOME are such as ALL HITS. Perhaps some ALL Star but regardless, when you compare some Best Karaoke to Top Tunes to All Star, all three appear to be the same. Now, some of their older tracks COULD have connections to SGB. I've never compared CB to SGB. I usually only use CB for country. Sometimes a pop or rock, if I feel confident that it's acceptable..... Just giving Smooth a hard time 8)

To all, very helpful. I have not used kjrip, I have used cdg rip and power cdg ripper, both fail. Like was said some discs work and some do not. I have not checked for deterioration, every disc was sealed from the factory, but I guess depending on the cellulose used and storage temps they could deteriorate. Power cdg worked better sometimes and I also have kjams pro that rips as well but not happy abuut having to type in the names of all the songs, what a pain in the behind. I haven't noticed the recycled songs but so far I do have a few favorites, Picture "Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow" and any songs from the Jimmy Buffet, Evanescence and Kenny Chesney discs.

I will try kjrip soon and get back to you. Thanks for the help "ALL".

I've got a few Top Tunes discs I can't properly rip with anything I've tried -- Audiograbber gets them sort of, but they are very garbled... Maybe it's the Window's Vista operating system?...

I've seen this problem many times before. it's usually caused by a ripping program that is trying to rip the last audio track with a data track that exists right after it (The Program usually thinks that they are a single track together). I use Slysoft's Any DVD with Power CDG Burner. It always solves this problem and will then show the data track separately so I can choose not to rip it.

Not to step on anyone's toes, I was having some glitch's when I started and even playing them back when KJing Karaoke. Whether playing the song or downloading a disc or downloading from a website, I always turn off my anti virus, anti malware, firewall, and automatic updates. In order to turn off my anti virus program I have to go into control panel, administrative tools, services. There is no other way to turn that program off. But it did stop the "digital garbles". Also I use Power CDG Burner, but I have the older version on my desktop which works fast and flawlessly, I have the newest version on my laptop. The newer version is slower and it sometimes won't rip the disk or it stalls. I have tried uninstall and re install as per instructions from the administrators at Power-karaoke with the same results. What I do is rip it from the Power CDG Burner on the desktop and copy it to a disk, then put the copied disk in the laptop and rip it. It works fine then. One more thing is custom discs seem to take twice as long to rip.

Good information on this thread as usual.

Though not targeted to the OP's actual question, I should note that a side issue also exists with Top Tunes. If your book software is not a song generator, but one that is databese based such as KJ Pro- you will find that virtually every single Top Tunes disc title listing is incorrect. Either some songs are missing/replaced on the actual disc, or the numbering is off.
