I have bought some CD's from Sound Choice brand on ebay, and they were like 10.99 used condition. Seller posted
Used

“Original and legally purchased Karaoke Disc. Opened package but good condition. Discs play like new.

So I purchased it, and received it on mail, and when I opened it, I noticed that in the back, its a burnt CD quality, and the top it looks like a sticker, I mean a good sticker stuck on the CD. I have bought CD's from SC before and it's not like the same one. Also with the CD packet it has a small Warning paper.

Now my question is, is this an legit CD?

Sound like non-legit discs sorry to say. SC never made discs with paper labels.

Can you take pics and post?

Lon & Rev1274, I have several Sc discs that are burns with silk screened labels. The labels are definitely cheap looking. There are all made in England too. As weird as they look they are original, just not made in USA.

Silkscreening on a disc is different than the 'sticker' that was described. I have the silkscreened discs as well.

As Lon stated if they are stickers that you can peel up the edge a little, they are not "original" manufactured by/for Sound Choice discs. Ebay will see that you get your money back.

If they are legit, It is very hard for me. Those discs are very bad quality and scratches very fast. I remember Pop Hits Monthly, (after a while they used bad quality CD's) the quality of the discs were bad and I never bought them. Like after 20x tries, you can't see the words playing in the song. If this is the case, is it possible for me to burn the cd's to a computer and play the burnt cd's instead for myself?

Not legit. SC never made labels that went all the way to the center, even on their later years. And you can see it's not a silkscreen since you cannot see the ridges of the center of the disc - just a flat surface all the way to center.

Sorry to say, you cannot use those tracks even if you put them on a computer (at least for any shows).

Agree with Lonnie. Sucks you got duped. You should start with the seller, then go to eBay if you can't get the seller to resolve.

Also, I would like to know who the seller is so I can avoid them on eBay. I don't generally buy the 2000 series Sound choice discs, but occasionally I see a deal I just can't pass up.

I disagree. I Have several that look just like the photo, and they say "compiled and produced by FSC Mediaplas PO Box 100, New Milton Haunts, BH257XQ, United Kingdom, fsc@mediaplas.com". I believe that James has stated on a couple of occasions that they are indeed legal. I will do some searching to see if I can find his (JH) statements.

Here is a start: viewtopic.php?f=26&t=23475&p=327046&hilit=mediaplas#p327046

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23500&p=326795&hilit=mediaplas#p326795

There many other references to this issue......just search for "mediaplas". Even Alex said that he has several, and during his audit they were considered legit.

I’m with Lon & mrmarog on this one. If paper label stickers that you can peel at the edge, they’re burns, if silk screen, they’re legit. I ordered 4 from doowop.com. I was unease about the looks too, legit or burns. So I posted my concern to sc message board.

Their answer: “Yes, it’s a legitimate disc. In an effort to bring back more out of print Sound Choice titles that had been discontinued due to expired licenses or low sales, our UK branch is licensing the songs through MCPS (which is easier and less expensive than US publishers and allows for world-wide distribution). We import and distribute limited quantities of these discs. Thank you for your diligence in being certain you are getting genuine Sound Choice products”.

Should I just email Sound Choice?

Anyways to guys that say they are legit, how in the world do you play it at your system? Do you put it in your hardware, and play songs on your hardware so it doesn't scratch? I don't have a hardware device like KJ's. I have an old RSQ player. If I play this CD that looks burnt, the words will start to scratch after I play it 15 times.

now THIS changes it. no legit disc will peel, they are silk screened not labled with a sticker.
contact ebay and/or paypal (if you paid that way) and see what your options are.

I agree if you can peel it it must be a sticker. I would think you could easily tell if it is a sticker and not silk screened. Contact ebay and you will get your money back.

Every time I see your avatar Stephen King comes to mind.

Which is what i've been saying all along. SC never used a paper/sticker label. Silkscreening is a different process that prints directly on the disc itself. These are NOT legit discs - sorry.
