A while back I bought a touchscreen that was pulled from a kiosk machine, so naturally it didn't come with any monitor stand.

it works great as a touchscreen monitor, but the metal grill that i use to make it stand up is a little heavy and awkward.

I found a monitor stand on ebay that was $40, which is fine but they want $60 to ship it to Canada.

anyone have any ideas on how I could get one built for a little cheaper?

it would also be cool cause then maybe I could mount it to a music stand and use it in a bar/kiosk setup.

James, I use this: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/370972.html On a Tama tripod mic stand. It's VESA compatible and it works great! I use this to hold 15" flat screen TV for my karaoke singers.

Hope this helps,
BT

I use a tiltable versa bracket I bought from Walmart 4+ years ago and attached it to a foldable tripod mic stand too. I put a piece of gaff tape (heavy duct tape) over the leg (as shown). I have never had anyone knock it over, or trip over it because it is so low profile. It folds up flat to about the size of a child's snow shovel, and I put it screen down on the floor of my car trunk with a rug on top of it. Then I load everything on top of it! Over 4 years now same stand, same monitor.

I'm using this... which is a lot sturdier and much more heavy duty than a mike stand. (Click on the picture for a larger size)\\

Actually, this is what I use for my touch screen kiosk monitor. My performer monitor stand is on wheels.

I use the same stand without the wheels for my singers monitor. It works very nice as the monitor can be removed very easily. Fold it up and off I go.

I've never had any luck with those cheap, plastic wheels. I had one back in the 90's with a 13" crt TV, and the wheels snapped off. The K&M adapter that I currently use is great because it can be angle adjusted and was pretty inexpensive, Plus it too can be picked up and moved very easily.
Mic stands can provide sufficient stability providing
A: You use a Tripod Stand.
B:You don't use one of those 4 oz, cheap mic stands from the big music retailers for $12-$19!
C:Audience/Crowd Management. Don't put the stand in a place where people will be dancing or congregating too closely.
