I typically don't talk about the new selections - good, bad (most new stuff falls into this category IMO) or otherwise - most new stuff isn't worth talking about, i'd personally rather see more back catalog stuff from the last 30 years that has never made it karaoke. I look at what is posted and make a decision as to whether i'll buy it or not.

Me too. I've not seen anything "new" my singer have been asking for.

I don't by any of the monthly release packages from any vendor any longer. I only buy one off requests as needed and when requests come in.

just one more reason why many people choose to get their karaoke music for free. Most of the new stuff isn't worth a damn.

Same here. Don’t buy subscriptions or monthlies, not if only 10% or less gets played. By request only; I check my clip board constantly & if available they’ll have it the following night.

I absolutely choose NOT to get my music for free. I will in fact BUY what I feel is worth, what my singers are asking for ande if it is available. I am not a thief even if the songs were available to me for free!

I agree 100% with Lon.
there is no reason to steal from anyone.
i will buy what i can for my singers as long as it is reasonable and available either in one off downloads or a disc with more than 6 usable and needed songs otherwise i am sorry, but i do not have that.
the companies that offer downloads like SBI, Sunfly, Zoom, Digitrax get my business where others would not.
that i think is why you are seeing a drop in the comments on the new discs, nobody wants to buy a disc with 3 usable songs.

So far I haven't had enough demand for new to buy the packages or subscribe but I do have some younger people at the shows that want new songs. "Wrecking Ball" was requested and was done the day I got it. I tend to buy mostly by request but also check the hit lists and listen to the radio and get a few that I think a particular crowd would like.

Anything by Bruno Mars gets done although I'm guessing only a few will survive to become classics. "Blurred Lines" and "Clarity" are being done. Taylor Swift is gaining ground at the adult shows. Pink provides the best songs for the ladies. They identify with almost everything she puts out. I am actually even getting some hip hop and rap requests even though it's mainly a country area. Some Kanye and Usher were requested. I'm starting to get Musical requests also--Rent, Wicked, etc. Haven't had anyone doing those in ages.

If the trend continues I may end up buying a package or two from DTE as by the time I get through ordering the individual requests it comes pretty close in price to what the package deal would have been so I may as well get more songs for the same amount of money. But it isn't to the point of wanting to subscribe yet.

Oh--for some reason the country is falling off. Miranda Lambert is the only one still holding ground as far as new song requests.

Same here, Cue. For PHM pop & country: 1 or 2. Urban: 0. I get at least 4 from dt monthlies.

Sound Choice estimates that 90% of All KJs are pirates. I have no problem with the 10% that don't want to cross the line. All I'm saying is that the 90% of the pirates become pirates for a myriad of reasons. Refusing to pay for crappy titles is just one of the many reasons. Most of the new stuff that comes out on these monthly discs are what most people would call filler. Some people don't mind paying for filler and 90% of the people do mind paying for songs that, more than likely, will never get sung.

In the words of Chris Rock: when discussing O.J. Simpson... I'm not saying it's right; but I understand why he did it.

Ditto, but unless the singer is a regular, I need at least 2 or 3 requests before I buy a disc. I'm no longer buying whole discs for one intermittent singer's one song when no one else sings it. A waste.

O.J. is in jail now but not for murdering two people. He is in jail for armed robbery of his own memorabilia.
