Hey guys need your help. I am purchasing some pioneer karaoke discs. I love the cheesy videos. Was wanting to know if anyone has had any experience in media shifting these discs to their computer and playing them on Compuhost. I would prefer to avoid using a pioneer player. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks!

There are several previous threads on this so you might try a search--here is one that I found right off hand: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=23992&hilit=convert+pioneer

Oh--the Search function is sometimes hard to notice--it is on the left of the page under where it says Karaoke Scene--go down a bit under FAQS.

Yep a good cvideo capture card with software and a laserdisc player. Also about 1 hour play/rip time per side of each disc. Once done, it's well worth the effort.

Yep, Compuhost V2 will play them back fine (V1 will work with a little fiddlin'.) Use a player with S-Video out, capture in a high quality format (I use DV) edit into individual songs and save with standard karaoke names, something like "PD051B-01 - Houston, Whitney - Exhale.MP4", Install the K-Lite Codec Pack and batch compress. Compuhost recomends the "WMV" format, but I use MP4s with no problems. Smaller and higher quality. 8)

Make sure you get the discs with MOONDANCE and Billy Holiday's SUMMERTIME. Classics with musical values never matched by any other brands!
