Need to re-download 2 songs (got corrupted somehow) I purchased 4 mos ago only to find my download history is not accessible. I click on ‘purchased’, only 22 tracks showed from over 150 tracks I downloaded. Can’t find support page & no phone # to call. I have my back-up but on cd & as I understand that would be 2nd gen to upload. Clicked on ‘account/billing history’, my 18 credit card transactions showed up, dates, amount, downloads. Placed pointer to downloads, pointer change to hand shape meaning clickable – nope, won’t open. Just for the record both my karaoke version & tricera’s download history available from day one to present. Anyway, I think the following issues should be addressed immediately (feel free to add more that needs fixing): 1. Create a support page + a toll free or any number to call. Maybe even an ‘about us’ info page. Hmmmm – why so secretive? (liability concerns? ) 2. Show complete listing of purchased history; make all tracks functional for redownloads like kv & tricera. 3. email receipt/purchase confirmation – itemize to show specifics i.e., list title of songs purchased. At present the receipt only shows merchant, invoice #, transaction id, purchaser’s info, amount & date. 4. Sample bit of song tracks to hear before purchase. This has been requested by others numerous times. Lesson learned: note to self - create another back-up, not to cd but this time to another hard drive.

I would think a simple copy and paste from the backup CD would work fine. You shouldn't loss any quality as all is digital content.

Unless he burnt it to disc as an audio disc and not just a backup as an mp3. If he burned an mp3 to a cd as an audio file, in order to get it back to mp3 would be to re-rip it further degrading the sound since it would technically be ripped/compressed twice at that point.

I thought so too, but as evidenced by Lon’s post above that was not the case. He posted about the same in another thread that convinced me I was doing double compression. I’m such a Ned Ludd (luddite) clone when it comes to ripping; just learning it the hard way from scratch. I used to download the songs from the site, drag & drop to pkaraokeburner, thus takes care of two things at once. Renaming & have a burned cd backup, then upload re-rip to hdrive folder, hence the quality degradation. I was told do it the other way, download to folder, rename the files (ex: kv1820-04 – Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines & so forth, then drag & drop all kv1820 songs to pkaraokeburner if I want to make a cd. I took the liberty of reposting Bazza’s from another thread for the benefit of others ‘cause I definitely benefited from it: Bazza wrote (verbatim): “There is only a change to an audio file when transcoding occurs. IE: Changing it to a different format. As long as you keep the file in the same format you can move it about or copy it without loss. For example, if you take the MP3 you downloaded and burn it to a CD or DVD as a data disc for safekeeping, nothing has changed. You could copy that file later and it will be exactly the same.
Now if you took that MP3 and using your software created a CD+G out of it, it will be altered as CD audio is linear...a different format. Re-ripping that CD+G back to MP3 (two transcodes later) will result in a file that is not the same as the one used to create the disc. No matter what the format, the rule in audio is that whenever possible transcoding should be minimized or avoided altogether.” End bazza’s quote. Next project is to re-download all my purchased songs from tricera direct to folder, rename to replace my former existing ‘cd rips’ files. I already finished the KV process. My dt downloads questionable as I can’t find my download history from their site. Thanks again, Lon & Bazza! Peace of mind – now I know it was done right.

Good point, I always save on a CD as a MP3+g just like the file on my hard drive, but if you can't get them to fix their records and re down load a clean copy it's better then nothing.

I got an e-mail the other day from Karaoke Version telling me that all of their songs are available now in 320 bit rates. I cab just go to their web site abd download any songs that I have purchased in the past.
That's the way it should be done.

I finished all my re-downloads from kv last Thursday. Dang it, I need to find out if they were 320. Otherwise, another 2 days of downloading again. Thanks for the info.

Referring back to the OP, this means that due to no itemized receipts AND lack of proper record keeping on DT's part- you have no way of proving that you paid for 132 specific titles of your 150 downloads from DT.
Just re-iterating that itemized receipts are a recognized business neccesity, and they are not being provided by DT.
I'm not a download guy, but it sounds like you should stick to Karaoke Versions or whatever sites that DO provide them. Even if DT finds your records on line, there is no reason that the situation could not arise again.
Also a MANNED phone number should always be available on the site, because not every KJ is on this forum.

Not sure, I download all my KV songs in video format, higher quality sound even over mp3.

I started download all mine in video format, but the are all in 640x480 and leave black borders on the sides of the screen. That bugs me.
Also, the videos from Karaoke Version use 256k bit rate for audio sampled at 44kHz.

-Chris Never even noticed, using Pioneer (and other) laserdiscs all the time I am very used to it.

I will cease doing business with DT until they iron-out the issues I mentioned above, particularly the one I foresee could possibly get me into hot water: inconsistent, incomplete purchase receipts. Thanks Joe!

I would definitely redownload if the images will fit the whole screen.

I know I can re-render them and stretch them to 16x9 but it is a lot time to do so.

Ah, I see why I never noticed the black bars, I download the videos normally with a black background so no black bars on the side show up. The colored backgrounds do show the black bars.

Thanks Joe! I totally agree and will not buy anything else from them either.

-Gretchen Welcome back, Gretchen. I (we) sure appreciate your time & effort to address our concerns. For such great karaoke instrumentation & arrangement coupled with good line of monthly hits I believe the business will increase tenfold imho if the dt higher ups would just listen, address the issues mentioned & truly care as much as you do. Thanks again!

Thanks again! Yes, welcome back Gretchen. Now... Brian my good friend. You are a very intelligent man. That's why I don't understand why you would think for one minute that the powers at DT would be inclined to (as you say) "listen, address the issues mentioned & truly care as much as you do". It clearly shows that they don't care. So, stop the wishful thinking. Anyway, how are you Brian? Hope all is well with you.

Anyway, how are you Brian? Hope all is well with you. Praise first before laying down the onslaught of criticism. The ever ‘tactful’ Alan B. I like it. I wouldn’t expect anything less coming from you. But I’m way, way far from being intelligent & don’t profess to be as such. Re: dt - It’s not wishful thinking, it’s more like focusing on the positive side of things – but since you’ve asked, I am fine & well, my friend. Life is good. I hope you’re doing fine as well. Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving!
