OK.....here's what the wife tells me:
As a small business owner/operator, what is needed is a
COMMERCIAL POLICY.....Commercial lines.
This covers real estate used for business.
This covers personally owned property used for business.
For example.....your'e a small business construction contractor who owns his machines, tools and equipment and leaves it on the worksite. You come to work and find your personally owned items stolen.
Same idea with your DJ equipment and items used in your commercial business on-site at the T-Bird.
In my case, my cd's were personal property in a vehicle and were therefore covered by HOMEOWNERS policy.
In another situation, I was a mobile copier repair tech and carried tool bag, parts and company laptop in my car. Car was broken into and items stolen. In this case, since it was all commercial business items, it was not covered under HOMEOWNERS POLICY. The copier company carried COMMERCIAL POLICY for just this type of situation and paid to replace all the items.
Not all Insurance Companies have this type of Commercial Policies available, so you will have to hunt around to find them.
Hope this helps!!
