Hi guys, I need your guidance in helping me set up a nice potable Karaoke system. This is just when us friends rent houses and just throw parties, not for commercial purposes. Anyway, it needs to have the least possible component involved and be small enough not to take up too much space.

Here is what I would like to do.
1. Purchase mp3+g songs and place them on an sd card or something. Then use an Android tablet to completely manage the Karaoke system.

2. I would like to get a powered speaker. Preferably a 10" one, would that be enough for live voice?
Ideally, I wouldn't need to use a mixer and plug the mics (see below) and somehow an output from the Android tablet directly into the speaker

3. Mics: GTDAudio g787, 4 UHF mics with diversity
OR Vocopro 5800 mics
What do you guys think of the mics? They both offer a mixed output 1/4" jacks and individual volume controls so I can plug that jack right into the speaker

4. Since funds are important I was thinking a 10" Yamaha for speakers.

What do you guys think? Any comments or suggestions? Would this be possible? I would love it if the mic base had a reverb effect though. I want this to be dead simple to set up and so people can just select songs on their own from an android tab.

Ideally, I would have a chromecast to mirror the words onto a TV so people aren't staring at a tablet.

Would really appreciate your help guys.

Well first, just so you know, each reply that you receive will be an argument against the one preceding it- just the way it is here.

That being said:

1) I would take the GTD Audio mics over the others hands down.
I'm a bit confused on how you plan to apply the vocals.
2) Ten inch speakers in a home can work just fine, but the Yamahas would be really light on bass. My suggestion would be FBT MAXX 10s, probably the very best small speakers I have ever heard- with great bass response, and I'm a devoted EV fan. Not cheap, but SOMETHING will end up costing you if you want a decent system. BTW, you mentioned ONE- I'm hoping that you meant at least a pair.

3) The control center: I am a disc based host, and others certainly know more about computerized karaoke software and firmware than I. However, I believe that if you want to have the best control over everything as well as a virtual mixer, you may want to abandon the idea of the Android tablet and go to a Windows laptop or notebook. I would add that then you would not have to worry about external music storage.

CAVEAT: Most virtual software mixers really don't come close to the real thing. I would recommend purchasing a small mixer. Not only would this improve sound quality, but will make speaker and mic hookups a whole lot easier.

Thanks man. The speaker you recommended was like $650. More than I wanna spend. I'm gonna get one speaker first to start.

What do you think of the rest of the setup idea?

Reason for a tablet is I want friends to easily be able to control it and select songs that they like with ease.

Whatr app do you plan to use with your tablet? I found one that will play MP3+G but it isn't very easy to search or load songs.

Actually - I have a cheap Android box that has a Karaoke feature built in (found it on amazon for under 100 - xstreamer I think its called?). Plugs right in to your TV and i actually mirror Karaoke songs from Youtube from my iPhone. It beats having to change the songs anyone can just use airplay and pick any song available on youtube. Clutch when there are a few people over! Although i would deff recommend an external speaker to do it any kind of justice.

Side note its also a smart tv box so its usefull even when your not doing karaoke.

You can bet I am using it tonight!

Happy New Years! Gdluck with your set up!

You will next to find a powered speaker with a mixer. Both line in and mic in, so far I've not seen one in a small speaker( just line in ).

Getting HDMI from a phone or tablet to a hdmi tv or monitor isn't hard to do with most devices. The issue is the player and I only have played with one. A Win 8 pro tablet would allow you to install Windows karaoke apps. I'd (me) go that route if I wanted to go tablet. But others may have more info so stay tuned..
