8) Would seem the practical world of a regular paycheck from FedEx wins out over pie in the sky. That is why I never quit my day job until I was fully retired. That still left many years for full time hosting before final retirement.

I think I’ve heard these words from Alan before - quite a few times actually & sometimes I doubt if it was expressed in an honest, sincere & meaningful way. Hmmmm. NOT!

Thank you for the kind words, Brian. Anyway, I don't want to say I told you so but I've been saying it from the very beginning that this whole thing was a crock. And I've been around long enough to know one when I see one. It's just amazing how gullible people can be. So, the time has come to get off it folks. There is no NKA, there's not gonna be a NKA.

Advice: Next time something like this gets posted, take it with a grain of salt.

Alan,

There's a difference between being gullible and hopeful. Mine was the latter. Being gullible would mean we were willing to follow blindly. None of us here posted anything of the sort that would have implied we were willing to be led like a little puppy dog (who trusts everyone). We all expressed our opinions about the possibilities of what William Beasley's NKA could/might be. Some of us (like myself) even asked questions (which, after 4 days now, William Beasley apparently feels he doesn't have the time or energy to answer). For the most part, I think we all (even you Alan, with your negative attitude right out of the gate) expressed the fact (in one way or another) that we would be a HARD SELL.

As of today, I have given up on giving William Beasley a chance to present his thoughts and plans for this new NKA. So Alan, feel free to give me your "I TOLD YOU SO's,"
BUT
don't you dare call me gullible!!!!

I've known William for a while and was involved for over a year in his local KJ's organization. I resigned from that group recently. I'm not from Missouri, but William will have to "show me" something before I do anything else with his organization.

From the email I received today -

Mission Statement

The mission of the National Karaoke Association is unite individuals and companies who produce, provide, publish and manufacture Karaoke products and services to create uniformity across the Karaoke industry.

Welcome

Welcome to the National Karaoke Association. For years the Karaoke Industry has been in a spiral of downhill profits, cheaply paid Karaoke gigs, spiraling questions along with a black cloud of who is obeying laws and who is breaking them while Karaoke popularity among singers continues to grow.

While the Karaoke Labels continue aggressive approaches to regain profits due to copyright and trademark infringements Karaoke Host throughout the United States continue to drift apart, wonders who is doing business right and leaving the venues ready to throw in the towel on Karaoke.

The other factor that plagues the industry is outdated laws and information. Karaoke has gone through some major changes in the last 20 years from being formatted on cassettes and Laserdisc, through the 90s and the economical CDG format, into the new century with digital formats however the laws have not caught up to the digital age fully.

Until now no organization has been created bringing all parties together to work on one command goal between all making the industry better in addition to making laws that impact the overall goal of the industry.

Throughout the National Karaoke Jockey our overall goal is to unite the Songwriters, Artist, Licensee Groups, Trade Magazines, Software Manufactures Equipment Manufactures, Karaoke Labels, Karaoke Venue's, Karaoke Host and Karaoke Singers while working towards conducting consumer, industry and technical research; and monitor and review state and federal laws, regulations and policies.
One person, company or trade organization cannot do all this by themselves it takes input from all sources. Industry meetings throughout the year, websites and publications that have accurate data and information.

It Time! Your Time!

Executive Team of the National Karaoke Alliance

Upcoming Webinar

To allow prospective members an opportunity to learn more about our objectives, goals, timelines and what we hope to accomplish we will be having multiple Webinars throughout January.

• Friday, January 17, 2014
• Tuesday, January 21, 2014

After reading the Mission Statement:

I see nothing pertaining to HOSTS. The word "provide" could connected to hosting, but not as inserted in with "produce", "publish", and "manufacture", instead of with "services" at the end.

So as I interpret it, this mission's priority is directed the good of the karaoke mfrs, not hosting. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but nothing to do with me.

Pass.

I received that e-mail as well, and I am a bit P.O.'d at William Beasley. It was sent to 2 different e-mail addresses that I have, and I had only communicated to William through 1 of them (and also registered on his site with that same one). There's only 2 places I can think of where he got my other e-mail address from: here, or on SC's website.

Then you can't be POed at Beasley- you CHOSE to be both here and on the SC website.

Since the SC board has been down for ages now, it could have only been from here in a direct email contact via Cues profile - if he has a different email here than what he used to email them. So it sounds like they answered him twice to make sure.

Lonnie, since I am now listed on SC's site as a Certified KJ, my e-mail address is there via a hyper-link (which also happens to be the e-mail address I use here as well). When I registered for more information from the NKA, I used a different e-mail address.

I can be P.O.'d at whomever I wish to be. This has nothing to do with which websites I CHOSE to be registered in. If I had wanted Mr. Beasley to contact me at both of my e-mail addresses, I would have given him that information. I did NOT willingly give my e-mail address (the one in question) to Mr. Beasley, so I view that as just ANOTHER SPAMMER. I now view him as no different than those who buy Customer Information lists from your Credit Card Company or from Online Vendors such as Amazon.com, and then start SPAMMING you. Yup! Just what I need... another SPAMMER telling me that I can get my Breast Size increased.

First of all, Cue your breasts are just fine. Don't let that bother you.

Second, I've known William for quite some time now, and he's not a spammer. Like Jerry, I am also a member of his local KJ meetup group. We are a small group of KJ's in the Raleigh-Durham area. We meet once a month for lunch to discuss how to make the local karaoke community better, talk about piracy, and all things related to karaoke.

William is a good guy. He's trying to succeed where other karaoke organizations have failed. Don't blow him off so quickly. He does have the backing of many of the karaoke manus. Everyone here is picking it to death. Go to his site and read what he has to say. Maybe he has big ideas, but he's trying to help us all. Maybe it's all pie in the sky, but give him a chance. It just might all come together, and we'll all be better for his efforts.

I have gone to his website. There is nothing much in there (other than what looks like one big advertisement). His e-mail (which Chris posted here) actually said more than what's in his website.

Sorry Skid, but I blew him off when he not only once, but twice, did not respond properly (or in a timely manner) to my e-mails to him. That gives me the impression that he either doesn't care enough to respond, or is just plain lazy.

I can certainly understand passing on this. The application and aptitude has been far short of acceptable so far. It is still far too heavy on Manufactures and piracy and far too light on KJ content. But it is getting closer. I have a hard time understanding why these start up associations do not go for the full bore KJ sell complete with solutions across the board. It's going to be a hard sell if the primary (only) platform is piracy.

Anyway, for me it's still far too early to pass. It costs me nothing to watch and see.

Your option to have your web address out there. If you want to remain private then remove them.

William is just reaching out to KJs by any legit means possible. Would you have rather had him not contact you and leave you out of the loop?
