I had one cancelled this past Saturday evening due to hazardous driving conditions in the area... blowing snow and whiteouts. The authorities closed the main highway that I would have had to take to get to the venue. Must admit, that was a 'first' for me.

No cancelling for me. Guess us Iowans aren't pussing out because of the cold.
Last weeks gig it was -2 degrees out at the end of the night. With a blizzard on the way.
3 years ago (I think) we did EXTREME KARAOKE, outside for our towns annual winter fest celebration. It was outside for 4 hours and about 20 degrees. Fun times!

Well its been cold as hell here but no cancellations here yet. The last few saturdays have been really good nights for me. I think a lot of people have a bit of cabin fever as we have had a lot of snow and wind during the week. The weekends have been near zero but no blowing snow and ok road conditions. Its supposed to get 20-30 degrees here this weekend. So i think we will have another good turnout.

No cancellations, but it was a little slow last Thursday night. Sleet and freezing rain started around 5:30 in the afternoon. As I was on the highway headed to the show, the wind would gust and push the trailer sideways across the ice. Lack of turn out wasn't surprising.

Ski country Colorado.
Bring on the cold and snow, especially the snow.
Never had a show cancelled because of cold or snow. In fact the more snow, the more people come to town.
The only drawback - if we get more that 6" between 9pm and midnight - the true skiers/boarders will start to leave early in order to be among the first on the mountain in the morning for a "powder day". Everyone else stays and enjoys the upbeat mood supported by fresh snow around here.
It isn't all just fun though... On New Year's Day 2014, I was stuck in Steamboat Springs because there was 13" of fresh snow on the one state highway that would get me home and they don't plow that road overnight. A couple of years ago, I missed the turn-off to that road during a white-out blizzard. I was driving a 4wd vehicle and though it was slow, I was making progress. I realized my mistake about 40 miles down the road when I pulled into a town that is not on my usual route. Ended up about 90 miles out of my way and had to travel back over a mountain pass to get home, but that was on the interstate and that had been plowed. Quite the adventure.

Cary NC, show cancelled Tuesday night due to extreme cold, ice, and snow. Started the show, but the restaurant closed down after about an hour.

Guess it depends on the area. I have seen people who were a little sick, still come out to their regular karaoke hangout in -30C weather.

-James I wish sick people would stay home for a few more days than they do. I use Lysol wipes to try to keep them coming back and not spread the flu and colds BUT.... Even in warm P.S. CA. we get folks from all over the world and some do get sick but still come out to have a good time.

One place we play has one of their furnaces out and whoever built it did a terrible job on insulation and sealing. We keep debating whether it's colder inside or out.
As for cold? Try -40 C or F, they're the same, in a slit trench for a few hours.

It's threads like this that make me love living in Tempe, Arizona. Today's high: 79F, Tonight's low: 55F. Two of the bars I work have large patios which are quite popular. As for snow.... that's that white cold stuff on the ground in Christmas movies, huh? Someday I'm going to have to travel to see what it's like.
...just kidding. I grew up outside of Casper, Wyoming, and experienced plenty of snow. And no, I don't miss it a bit.

It was so warm at my desk today that I almost broke out the air conditioners and fans.
Paradigm Karaoke, I just noticed you're listed as being in Phoenix. Where and when do you host?

If I were rich, then I would live somewhere warm in the winter and somewhere cooler in the summer.
That's pretty much why I love fall around here. Not too cold, and not too hot.
As for sick people, I wish they would stay home too. but that would make too much sense

Took me twice as long to get to the show tonight. 12" fell between 7:30pm and 2:00am. Had to shovel my driveway to get into the garage when I got home. Show was slow, but fun. More reliable that the USPS. The show must go on.
