Also I would like to thank the guys that told me that shure sm58 is a good Mic. I was gonna buy it later on to try how it sounds, and would be for my own use.

I seriously don't understand how APi DM-98 is a poor Mic. Yes I have used these Mics many times it sounds great. One part I really hate about is the switch where if you push the On-Off Button hard, it sometimes Jams inside.

@Mightywizz I might have to read a little more as I don't understand well about XLR cables.

@ Lonman

If I have to go and get it repaired, I will probably have to visit them every 2-3 weeks.

The mics you posted, http://www.amazon.com/GTD-Audio-G-622H- ... =gtd+audio are only 169.00 and the ones I used to have http://www.kgkaraoke.com/API%20U-808%20 ... System.htm are $175.00.

I know yours is cheaper, but is it better than API u808?

Lonman has been in this business for over twenty years, if I read the posts correctly. So I would say that qualifies him as an expert. He has made countless equipment recommendations, and has gotten very few negative comments.

But as far as the GTD is concerned, read all the reviews and comments about the GTD series in the thread about them.. Only ONE complaint about it, and then that person completely changed their mind once they actually used them.. I think that speaks volumes..

Just saying

good luck with your endevours

And now we have full info. Small private rooms with equipment left unattended and a rowdy crowd.

I agree with his choice of equipment.

You know.
Just because someone has experience in Karaoke over 20 years doesn't make them an expert. I have played Basketball and Chess for over 20 years. Does that make me a expert? Do I call myself an expert player? No.

My question to him is comparing products.
Am I asking a recommendation of a product? Yes for Wired No for Wireless.

I'm just saying which product is better. And if Lon ever tried that API model.
As someone mentioned "API are low Quality Microphones". "VocoPro and APi are consumer grade home-use kinda stuff."

This is API's homepage.
"API Innovation is a manufacturer of high-fidelity / leading technology audio miking and amplification solutions, providing
state of the art, high-end, Karaoke solutions that range from meeting the requirements of the aspiring home amateur
singer, to the professional artist. The fidelity specifications for each solution are tailored specifically to the individual
needs and preferences of the artist type. So, whether you are an aspiring artist or a professional singer, API
Innovation has the perfect solution for your needs."

Maybe I should give the company a call that some people think their product is Low quality.

Anyways, Original Question was about wired Mics and Cords. Wasn't talking about wireless. You guys brought it up. And Yes I said API Wired Microphones sucks.

i apologize if I came across as condescending, that wasn't my intent. I was just pointing out, that many people trust lonman's opinion on things. You were asking about the GTD mics in general, as indicated by the quote.. Everyone seems to think they are excellent mics.

Now since you want wired, then yes I would say that pretty much everyone on this board would agree with the SM58. You should type this into the search box on youtube. There is a video where a guy sticks the microphone in a pitcher of water, runs over it with his car, and a couple of other things, and it still works, good as new.

If that doesn't say it all, then nothing will :)

Yep. The api's are along the lines of nady.

I dont consider myself an expert on anything, I do however study gear and try to actually demo stuff (a friend of mine manages a GC up herr and lets me test stuff when id like quite often). You can take my opinion as just that, but I have been in the music business running sound for bands since '86, setup, ran and even owned a recording studio for a few years and do setups locally for bars and other dj/karaoke companies. I am always learning something new but try to pass on what I know to others everyday.

What are the patrons doing that breaks the mics\cables so often? if it is mostly at the mic connector, then you should take a pro active measure regardless of the equipment you are putting in there.
I suggest doing what the Who has always done with Roger Daltrey's mic\cable. NO ONE is tougher on mics and cables than he is (on purpose). They wrap the end of the mic\cable with tape to a point that the entire connection can not be bent moved or disconnected.

They also make a heavy duty heat shrink tube for under water electrical connections. I have never tried it but I imagine it could be installed over the connection\cable end and heated to shrink around the problem areas. This could be a cleaner look and provide an easier way to remove it, change out and do it again. But, again, the goal would be to solve the problem so you wouldn't have to do it again. It's a more expensive option but still well worth it given the hassle and cost of replacing mics\cables.

Cannon and then Amphenol, XLR3 connectors used to to the best 40 years ago. Now all I use are Switchcraft. They seem to go the distance and not cost an arm and a leg.

One problem we witnessed was that they wrapped up the mic chords around the mic.

I don't understand anything regarding what you said about Who has always done with Roger Daltrey

Roger Daltry is known for swinging his mic by the cord like a big windmill! Which is why they tape the crap out of it.

Roger Daltrey is the lead singer for the legendary English rock band, "The Who". Lon described what Daltrey does on stage with his mic. It's his thing...

Wrapping the mic and connector would probably help with the damage caused by wrapping the cable around the mic. It would move the bend point further down the cable.
