Tricerasoft appears to have pulled tracks of artists on the "no fly" list. Last night I went to purchase a Paramore track....no longer there. A search for Adele and The Eagles showed no results as well.

It tells me that the "no fly" list is bullshit and selective **OR** some at least one company isn't abiding by the rules.

It can also depend on who wrote the song. Pearl Jam might not allow the songs written by them on karaoke but you will find their version of "Last Kiss" on karaoke because they didn't write it/own the rights. And if it is a disc, it could also be old stock imported before the Jan 2011 restrictions went into place.

You can still go to sbikaraoke.com and order there, at least for now.

Or the songs that are up on All Star aren't owned by the no fly publisher or not the artists original song and is controlled by another publisher not on the list. A 'no fly' artist can record a cover of someones song that is perfectly ok with karaoke. It doesn't make the song the new artists, they still had to get permission to record/distribute and ultimately it's up to the original artist/publisher to determine if they want the new cover available for karaoke or not. No fly list don't apply in those cases, which is what I'm betting is the case with the Adele songs on All Star - again, there are only 4. I have 27 in my book alone.

I have a strong suspicion we will see a lot more instrumentals (no graphics) pop up in the future as it's the graphics that general hamper licensing. Music is a lot easier to get. Karaoke-Version must abide somewhat to publishing restrictions, often i'll find songs available in their instrumental section & click on the karaoke video and it will say Unfortunately, the right holders for this work don't allow us to put it online. We are currently doing our utmost to get the required authorizations.

Sunfly have just sent out a mail urging us to download NOW before it's too late. Will affect one show I know that streams.

Ah Smooth, I expect no less from you. The Rights holders should be paid for their work or decide how it is used. Even movie producers have to *gasp* ask for permission and pay for use of music in their films and shows. Have you ever wondered why "Happy Birthday" is hardly used and "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow" is?, The former is Copyrighted and the latter is in the Public Domain. It's the way it is, whether you, me, or anyone else likes it or not.

Chain restaurants even, (commercial setting) have to pay. That’s the reason why the wait-staff sing an alternative greeting tune. http://americablog.com/2014/03/breaking ... thday.html(click & play vid below the link. I think this will push more KJs to piracy than ever before.

I agree with Rick, number one.
Number two are all these bands from one publisher? And we are supposed to pull all that music out of OUR inventories as well? F*^# THAT!!! That is a ton of music. This whole thing is ridiculous!! I hope someone in power figures out a way to fix this.

But it isn't necessarily the publisher, like Don Henley & Glenn Freye from the Eagles - they simply do not want anything they wrote on karaoke. Many bands are like that, that actually control their own music. Most Seattle grunge bands refuse karaoke rights as well.

In reality, out of the thousands of KJs in this country, you can probably count the ones who have knowledge of the situation and actually care about it on your fingers. Just look to the posters here. The "no-fly list" is about as meaningless now as it was when Don Henley and Garth Brooks invented it many years ago. If singers want to sing it, some manufacturer will provide it and all but ten KJs will have it available. Yeah, I've become cynical.

Lonman has pretty much covered the mailing with his link to the website. I did push for more info and Colin replied with
'The "No Fly List" is a list of artists who do not want karaoke versions of their material being made. It has been in operation in the US for 18 months or so and so it was inevitable that it would be issued in the UK too. However PRS have said that it will only apply to online services like downloads and streaming in the UK not CDG discs. You will therefore continue to be able to buy future and past releases from those artists on our pressed and Pick n Mix CDGs. We are also thinking about changing the minimum order quantity for PnM CDGs from 6 to 4 tracks per disc but that is not confirmed yet. Hope this helps Colin'
Zoom have issued a statement today on their Facebook page.

According to the notices I have read so far:
This is a "no Fly List comes to PRS" deal. It only deals with download karaoke (graphics and music) They can still provide the back tracks via download You can still purchase the "no fly" karaoke content on disc (that is where discs come in to play) Contrary to what Tricerasoft told me, this only applies to sales. And maybe there is a difference between the UK and US in that regard. We need more on this. Content previously purchased via download is still covered under the license agreement that was in place at the time of purchase.
This is what I have taken from what I have learned so far. I am only interested in getting a clear sharp picture on what is going on. I have posted a question to Zoom regarding the US. I will post the response when I get it.
Edit: Zoom's response to my question: We have a meeting with PRS next week to find out more information. We'll obviously keep customers updated.
