I don't use 'filler', it takes away from the people that are there to sing. I provide karaoke, not filler.

Unless I have no requests which is rare but does happen, my shows are all karaoke.

i do karaoke the whole time, but unless you fade from one karaoke song int the next (which i have seen and is kinda cool) you either have no music, or you use 10 seconds of filler music while you are announcing.

People hear your announcement better if there is no music.

No Dead Air......one of the very few "rules" I have. I treat it like radio.

Danny, If you have your volume differential (percentage of filler vs karaoke) set up properly you will have the best of both worlds..... No dead air, and every one can clearly hear your announcements. Karma has a very nice way of handling that problem :) Doing that and using Breakaway you will have it made in the shade.

Yep!

Also how many radio and/or tv ad's do you actually hear without some kind of underlying music. As long as it's at a volume that is not going to interfere with the host announcements, it sounds more professional IMO than just talking over dead air.

I use an apple nano to play filler music (sounds great). Usually play good upbeat songs to compensate for some of the boring slow karaoke songs.

My ipod filler tunes now retired, been replaced by Spotify premium (monthly subscription), all the latest music available at all times. Load my tunes, from 60’s to present, and then let it play all night long. Fresh music every time. Just slide/fade the volume in between karaoke music.

1st laptop: Spotify, split screen with winamp (wamp non-functional; just for 3D visualization effect). This laptop also functions as my download songs for “on the fly” requests; sbi, kv, zoom, thereby leaving the main karaoke laptop to play uninterrupted/worry-free operation while the other is downloading. Drag to flash drive & ready for that singer’s turn.

2nd laptop. Rotation: personal preference, 5 names showing, scroll down one name at a time connected to two 32” tv’s. Don’t like karma’s running name marque notification.

3rd laptop: Karma. 4th laptop - from a distance 20 ft away is Songbookdb kiosk + 11 songbooks. No app requests, they come to me & hand me their request slips. All pc’s are HP Envy Touch 17.3 screen except the rotation pc (my wife’s gonna kill me if she read these descriptions: (“you can afford all these but you can’t afford that ring I want to get?”) :argue:
