One of the things I do is something I call Potluck Karaoke. I tell the audience is doesn't matter and if u can sing or not. I will usually get 3 or 4 females out of the audience up the stage to sing. (usually customers that have not signed up to sing). I will tell them that the funny part of this is the singers will not know what song they are singing until it comes up on the screen. I will tell them the rules are if u do not sing we will start over and over. Then I will usually cue up a song that everyone knows like Y.M.C.A Then I Will call up 3 or 4 males and do the same thing and play something like soul man or even funny for the guys play Man I feel Like a Woman by Shania Twain. Everyone gets a kick out of this and it's gets everyone involved. Another thing I do is play a tv theme song and the first person to tell me the T.V show will win a free drink or dessert (ex Laverne and Shirley or happy days) Would like to hear what some other Kj's do

Very Nice. I like what you're doing. Karaoke is about having fun... EVERYONE! I'm glad to see you're doing that.

20 minutes to closing we distribute raffle tickets, put the halves into the rotating raffle drum. We assign different people every night to pick tickets from the drum. I don’t do the picking: conflict of interest so, no raised eyebrows from the doubting Thomases’. Winning tickets are given to me & I call the number.

10 minutes to closing time we raffle free appetizers, donated tshirts or pens, & then the last item is a “free song” meaning the winning ticket holder gets to sing the last/closing song of the night. We hold the raffle up to the last minute thereby most patrons stay till the end.

It’s kinda fun I get all kinds of suggestions such as; ‘let’s raffle the kj for the ladies’, or ‘I’m entitled to 2 free appetizers, last 2 #’s off my ticket is 6* (nueve in spanish, don't want to offend) Yayy! or lots of offers for the winning free song, auction style $5, 10, sold to the highest bidder, or in exchange for a free appetizer, or just pass it on to someone.

Do a rotation of speed karaoke. Speed the track up a few notches, (if you have the right host program to do so). Let your singers know you're going to do it and let them pick their songs. IT's hilarious.

There is a 7/night a week venue here that does SpeedDemon karaoke once a week. double speed is what they claim to do. I want to see someone do "One Week" Bare Naked Ladies or "Rap God" Eminem.

Before each singer sings his/her song, and before the music starts, they have to quote a famous line from a movie, TV show, commercial etc. "Frankly madam, I don't give a damn" or "Heeerrrrs Johnny" Then let the audience figure out what movie. Then start the song.
