It is the companies, entrepreneurs, and their employees that generate income and pay the taxes. Is that why tim a few billionaires think they can subvert a republic's government with money? I don't think that Eisenhower was a socialist, by any means, but when he was President the effective tax rate for the super wealthy was over 90%. That is when this country built the interstate road system, that we can't maintain today. I can see where vast amounts of wealth concentrated in a few hands can destabilize a country and subvert it's constitution. If we don't allow a king or a monarchy in this country, I don't see why we should be ruled by a few robber barons.

Yes Lone, there is a secret cadre wringing their hands and controlling the country and keeping everyone down. That's why there are more people making more money than ever before (look at all these internet kid millionaires).
Remember your Prez has the Veto power and has done things unilaterally (immigration for example) and it seems many are not happy with him. But I digress.

Tim they don't have to be secret anymore, corporations are people remember? Teddy Roosevelt a Republican President broke up the large corporate empires of Rockafeller and J.P. Morgan. Now there is no limit on how much a wealthy person can give to politicians. The Coke Brother and others, can buy Congressmen and Senators. What happens when the PREZ is in the pocket of big corporations who is going to VETO things unilaterally then? The current law that is causing the problem at the border was passed on Bush's watch. All the President wants is funding to care for the children that have been dumped on our doorstep. We spend more for one aircraft carrier than we want to spend on the border problems. The border has more of a direct impact on this country, than another carrier. History has a tendency to repeat itself. All the lessons we learned about corporate greed and corrupting our political system has been lost to the present generation. All of the hard earned rights minorities and workers have gained in the last 100 years are in danger of being swept away. The tipping point will come when the haves have so much others cannot exist. Then there will be a mass leveling of the political establishment, as has happened so many times before. So far we have managed to maintain our republic with but two revolutions, a successful one and a not so successful one. Who knows maybe a third one is in the wings, if sides don't become more reasonable.

Strange though I never hear of people who've gone through it kicking and screaming or for that matter those who volunteered to do so. Where are all these bereaved people you speak of?

The 3 hosts that I personally know in my area that were named and settled with SC still buy SC content, still use SC content, and don't have anything bad to say about SC.
The lawsuits have not been the talk of the town for a while now anywhere except here.
Even the Las Vegas lawsuit site is long gone.

Where are all these bereaved people you speak of? I would bet that as part of the agreement (settlement) they are not allowed to discuss it, and most certainly not in a negative light. Being unhappy is one thing... being nasty is another.

Where are all these bereaved people you speak of? Probably the same place where those who USED to support SC's actions jumped ship. Not many left, if you haven't noticed. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that there may be a reason for that.... That being said, is there any way at all to cut down on the b!t¢π slapping around here? Seriously, it's almost every thread at this point. Can't be a plus for attracting new members....
