I have been a DJ in north Alabama for around 10 years now, but I have just stepped into the karaoke world within the last year. for all of my non-karaoke DJ stuff I use the full / pro version of virtual DJ, but for my recent venture into the karaoke world I was introduced to and trained on compuhost (not the newest version, but the older version 1.93 I think?). I am aware that virtual DJ seems to be a great program to use for karaoke, but I have never even sampled with it because I am a creature of habit and prefer to go with what I am familiar with. however, since I have recently purchased my own equipment I am not sure what is the best way to go on my karaoke software ? should I go with (purchase) the newer version of compuhost and learn whatever changes the new version has over the older version I have been using ? or should I learn how to use my pro version of virtual DJ to handle my karaoke needs ? the virtual DJ software may have all of these same features, but I have grown to love the user friendly compuhost program ! features such as keeping up with the lineup of the singers, how it scrolls across the bottom of the screen who's up next, the way you can play video clips and / or music clips for things such as a happy bday shoutout, etc, I also love the way you can design your own filler music in between singers, and many other features that I love about compuhost ! like I said, virtual DJ may have all of these same features, and / or there may be software that is better than both of these, but when it comes to karaoke, compuhost is the ONLY program that I have any experience with. any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated so that I can get the most bang for my buck AND have the simplest / effortless / user friendly / nicely featured karaoke program possible. I am one of those that DOES like all of the cool bells and whistles, so....... let me hear what you guys / gals think ? thanks in advance !!!!!!!

You shouldn't have any real problem in learning V2.

Learn the new version. The other program is more geared for dj with some karaoke capability. Use it as your fill music in the background on a separate sound card (if it has the option to point to a specific sound card). Karaoke software are much better suited to handle karaoke.

Just about any dedicated karaoke hosting program will be better than Virtual DJ for karaoke. VDJ is great for djing. I use it for djing too. I also use it to play my filler music, even though my karaoke hosting program also plays filler music. I use Karma for karaoke and I couldn't be happier.
My suggestion to you is to stick with Compuhost (upgrade to the new version) since you are already familiar with it and like it. You can also check out other karaoke programs in your spare time if you're curious. If you do decide to check out other programs, you may want to do that before you purchase Compuhost. Would be a shame if you bought Compuhost first, then discovered later that you liked another program more.

VDJ not the best option for hosting at the same venue on a weekly basis.
I'd stick with CH or try KARMA. KARMA has a much simpler, much more intuitive interface. With CH, it takes more steps to add someone to the rotation, look up a song etc.
