have you played x-mas music in-between singers, yet?
has anyone sang an x-mas song yet?
if so, what's the first karaoke x-mas song of the year?
what's the first x-mas filler song you played?

i believe the first x-mas filler song i played was on black friday and it was chris brown's cover of "this christmas". i only played 2-3 xmas songs all night. typically, i don't like playing x-mas songs until december.
but no one sang an x-mas song on black friday. i think saturday night was the first x-mas karaoke song. someone sang donny hathaway's "this christmas".
i'm the only kj i know who will play a range of xmas music in-between singers during december. i'm sure other kjs do it, but not many that i know. not that they don't play xmas music at all, i'm saying during december, 35-45% of my filler songs will be x-mas music--in december only.
i've been to karaoke as a spectator back-to-back nights these past 2 days, sunday & monday, the kj didn't play any x-mas music and i don't think anyone sang one.
oh it's not a big deal to me. i'm not even a christmas person like that. i'm just saying, i use this month as my occasion to play all the xmas music i got.

We've had people singing an occasional Christmas song since Oct. Rarely will hear something through the year, sometimes someone will put up something like Frosty or Rudolph during July just to be funny. But I expect to hear more this month since I put out the Holiday pages in the books. add about 500 or so Christmas songs in my regular fill music lineup after T-Giving to New Years.

Haven't sung any christmas tunes yet, but my first one, if any, will probably be :The Twelve Pains of Christmas" by Bob Rivers.
After that, I'll probably do "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch"

Two so far, but I expect a few more tomorrow night. I love Christmas and all that it stands for but I try not to encourage too many to sing them (maybe 10%) because it defines the season, but not a "party". Without a party feel people tend to leave early. I have special books that I put out for all the special occasions that contain the Christmas songs.

I haven't played or had anyone sing one yet. I do the same as Lon. I put xmas songs in my books after Thanksgiving through New Years.

Last year I had a major rebellion from the crowd. People said they had to listen to Christmas songs all day at their jobs and they didn't want to hear any more. So I'm probably not going to put any in my filler music (although I may revolt and put in a few "alternative" type ones that aren't likely to be played in a retail establishment). I will still put out my Christmas and 1 Hanukkah Song Songbooks and will probably have to do some rudeness patrol to keep order if anyone chooses to sing one. I think it is a bit selfish and bah humbug on the part of people but it was almost everyone saying "NO MORE!" so guess I will have to go with it.

There is only one Christmas song I will play - "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses.
Singers are of course welcome to sing whatever Christmas songs I have which, just so happens is exactly zero.

I tend to sing Back Door Santa in December, that usually gets a positive response.

I get stuck singing the Grinch song every year. I've stopped minding it, but I agree with those who said Christmas music doesn't make a party.

First filler song played was Run-DMC's "Christmas in Hollis".
First patron singing Christmas karaoke was Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You", followed almost immediately by Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas".
First (and only so far) Christmas karaoke song I'VE sung is The Pogues, "Fairytale of New York". I'd imagine there's a "Mr. Grinch" performance in my future, though.

A couple years back my friend did Kevin Bloody Wilson's "Ho ho f***king ho", which went down a storm, and last year I did the Bryan Adams version of "Run Rudolph run", again well received. Last night somebody sang Shakin' Stevens' "Merry Christmas everyone" it was a quiet night and nobody seemed in the mood, so unfortunately that performance went down like a lead balloon.

Had a few sung last weekend! In fact I even sang "What Christmas means to me" by Stevie Wonder, which is my all time favorite Christmas song.

My show was 100% filled before it started. Every seat was reserved by at least the day before. That was the great news. The bad news was that way too many Christmas songs were sung and I lost 1/2 of my crowd 2 hours into the show because of it. I am speculating, but I would bet that I am right. I don't have Christmas songs listed in my books but they were being requested any way. I should have said "Are they in the book?", but I couldn't do that, so I let them sing their Christmas song. It was so disappointing to me that when I got home I couldn't stop thinking about it and had a very hard time sleeping. I need to take my job less seriously I guess. I have mentioned that I am sharing my show with another host that lost his gig to a pirate and needed some work..... so he will be hosting until after Christmas. Last night was my last Christmas show. Christmas is a time of joy but last night was far from joyful. Oh, I had 31 singers so it was busy, but it was not a party and very few dancers.

One of my female "regulars" is always first every year with a Christmas song... usually breaking the ice around the first of November. True to form, she belted out Brenda Lee's "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree" this year to a mixture of applause and mock groans.

I've been playing Christmas music for about three weeks now. People have been singing Christmas songs for about three weeks now as well.
