My memory is a little fizzy, but I went to a bar, and it also had open Mic and Private rooms.
Anyways, in the system is you choose the songs from a tablet (IPAD possibility) and when you sing the songs, it's not like SC or Pop Hits Monthly, SBI, or SK,etc. It's the original Music Video with words on it.
I remember 2 songs. Roar from Katy Perry and Let it go from Frozen. Just like the original video (Roar) it was Katy Perry in the jungle with words.
This reminds me of Original Footage Music Video Karaoke that I do sell, but do they still make new songs in DVD Karaoke?

As far as I know, DVD and VDC karaoke is now only made in Asian countries. However, many private karaoke rooms are Asian-owned, so it's possible.
As for original "Frozen" tracks, Disney puts out their own karaoke discs with original tracks. I also own the "Frozen" disc. If it was on a regular CDG or if that was the source then it's the real deal. However, Disney themselves never put out a DVD or VDC with karaoke lyrics included.

I here are some bootleg compilations people make floating around on Youtube, but know of no original video footage (other than a short lived laserdisc brand in the 90's called Original Footage that used the original video & music for the learning tracks, but were typically cheesy remakes for the actual karaoke track). I haven't seen (legitimately) anything like that on newer music.

Creating your own karaoke as a video is significantly easier than creating it as a CDG. I think this is probably the long term future of karaoke. The CDG format has it's pluses (being able to slow/speed up the scroll of the graphics, being able to modify/replace/watermark the graphic). In my experience though, I don't have to use those features very often at all.
Anyone with a backing track and a video editor or even PowerPoint can create a karaoke track.

On the later CB discs when they went to page by page display instead of line by line - usually a +.25 millisecond does the trick, same with most Sunfly tracks. Then I have a few that are almost a full second of half a second off.
