Has any publication or company ever printed or realest a good list of must have songs? I've used Lonnie's yearly list for a few years and it does help (thank you for doing it!). His show is a lot different then mine as the age of my singer/shows are at lest 20 years older. It seems that no one at my shows can remember anything any more! :mrgreen:

I'm thinking you could do worse than to copy the gem series track list ;-)

That isn't necessarily a 'must have' list. As far as what is actually being sung that is.

So true. 60 to 80 year old's can't "remember" the songs from what back then so much, so I get a lot of "It go like this". So I'm trying to keep a head of the "I can't remembers".... :roll:

So what are they singing? Beatles? Sinatra? Andy Williams? Rosemary Clooney?, Patsy Cline? Johnny Cash?

All that and more. That just can't remember the song titles and such. :? I go though as many of the download sites and find and buy as many as I can, but takes a long time to find them and cross reference to see if I all ready have them or not.

I have my dj/download computer connected to the internet. If they have a few lyrics, type them into Google along with lyrics & 9 out of 10 times you'll get the song they want - Google is a great tool for those that don't know the title (if you don't know it from the top of your head).

The down side to that is no wifi at one place and slow wifi at the other. :(

I use my phone as a hot spot. The wifi at our place sucks too. It's worth the data plan to be able to purchase music on the fly & look up songs/lyrics.

I do the google thing w/ the phone too.

So... 80 years old = born 1935 - turned 15 - 1950
60 = born 1955
turned 18 = 1973

You could use wikipedia to pull the top 40 from 1950 - 1973
That would be less than a thousand songs. You could go up to 1975 for good measure and probably make most of them fairly happy.

Better yet check THIS site. I was delighted to see Das Harry Lime theme made the top 10 in 1950. If any of you are film buffs enough to have seen the classic Orson Welles noir "The Third Man" it's that zither song!
