Yup. From what little info they give without signing up, it appears they make their money by taking 25% of your tips & bumps (which I assume is being "bumped" up the rotation) and 25% from the venue options (like online food ordering, etc) as their payment. Otherwise "Free". No mention who's music it is.
One thing is for sure, they have some very large companies backing them. Big Machine Group, Universal, Warner, Jack Daniels, Uber and Spotify.

If anybody bothered to read the Terms of Use, it explicitly says not for commercial use or public display, so hosts cannot use it for shows. https://karaoq.com/terms-of-use/

Kill it before it grows.
Just what we need . . . More inequality in this country. Bumping for pay is one of the most obnoxious forms of "I'm special 'cause I'm rich and My S^&T don't stink" and they promote it as a "feature"?
Also mystified as to how it is "Not for commercial use" but actually ties into a commercial establishment's POS system. ???
Also the spying potential - patron "psychographics"?
Boils down to a glorified online songlist with obnoxious features and much more benefit for the corporate sponsors than the patrons and the DJ/KJ
Pass Pass Pass on this one and hope it dies a quick death.

Also, they don't deliver music at all. It is a Digital Songbook + Social + Revenue Generation app. I am working on getting signed up to check it out.

I had sent an email to one of the publishers listed as "partnered" to see just how legitimate this really is. And the determination (for me): It isn't what it says it is. Large Publisher wrote: KaraoQ discussions are underway. There might be a little bit of confusion on the 'partnering' element..... What the website wants to portray in using the term "partnered with" isn't the definition that the publishers use, nor what you think it means. It isn't a partnership in the traditional meaning of the term unless you think that an invitation to a seminar/sales pitch means that you're now "partnered." It's a mis-direction and mis-use of what you think it really means in order to display (false) credibility. (i.e. they ain't as "partnered" as they would lead you to believe.)

I kind of figured as much. Just more "snake oil" that we don't need.

I'm curious if anyone from KaraoQ is on this forum? I admit, it does bridge some of the gap in technology. . . but a large part of their business model for KJs is the bump feature, which I have to say, is going to REALLY piss some people off. KJ tipping through the app is a great feature, but singers will be so pissed off at the KJ that other singers with bigger pocket books will be able "bump" themselves to the top. This should not be allowed by any karaoke software, IMO. Unless you pay to bump, you'll NEVER get to sing. Anyway, that's all the free advice I'm giving today. BTW, was anyone able to download it? I wasn't able to. Getting an error on a number of their pages as well.

the only place where tipping to get up sooner works, is in Asian style karaoke bars where this sort of thing is not only expected, but encouraged.
As for the rest, no thanks already happy with my songbook choice

I signed up for the service so I could check it out from the KJ perspective.
I also provided feedback around being able to hide the BUMP feature in the End-User (Singer) interface. I explained that even a HINT of being able to bump up in the rotation would be enough to piss people off at many karaoke shows. if the option can't be hidden from the singer app. I have no use for it.
Anyway, it took them two days to set up the account. Unfortunately, they don't support Windows Phone so i have no way to actually test it!

Yeah... just like tempers flare in Asia when someone gets up to sing "My Way" badly. I've read several articles over the years about how bar fights have started and people have been attacked for such sacrilege.

If I went to a karaoke bar where "bumping" was used, I would leave and never go back again. Like everyone else has said, it will only serve to alienate and piss people off.
I treat "all" of my singers fairly. I don't play favorites, I just don't cater to the ones who have bigger bank accounts.
This is the most stupidest idea I've heard yet. If you want to be marked among the community, damage your reputation, and turn customers away, than this is for you.
Otherwise, why support this? And even if you could disable this feature, the fact that it was included to be used shows me that I have no respect for a company like this and would certainly NOT endorse or use their products.
There is a karaoke host who works near one of my venues who was fired for soliciting tips from people, something I would never do. And now we have software that allows tipping, bumping. How disgusting.

If a KJ/DJ is being an entertaining jockey, then they deserve some tips. Taking a percentage of the tips though is. . . . slightly unethical, IMO. It's like donating $100 to the Red Cross, and knowing that only $20 actually makes it to the cause that you donated to. Bumping is disgusting.

The only thing it's going to do is "bump" people out the door. Once again, a company with their own selfish motivation trying to profit at the expense of yourself, your customers, and your venues. Why anyone would even entertain the idea of this (Chris?) is beyond me. Now if they were to offer a package deal with KAPA thrown in, now that might be tempting. It keeps getting better all the time. ***One more thing*** Do you offer your customers the use of a songbook? Kiosk? Smart phone? So do I but guess what, I can run a successful show without the use of any of that. So if anybody thinks that this kind of stuff is going to make your show any better, you gotta be so naive, gullible, or a combination of the two. You know what makes your show great? You do! That's right, all by yourself. and without the help of any additional garbage. If you're good, and people like you, you don't need anything else. But then again, if your goal is to piss people off and waste your money, then go for it.

I offer Karaosoft Songbooks Live and very few have ever used it. Other than that I am a believer of song books. Bumping/bribing is not even in my thought process. Now paying to sing with a rigid rotation (no bumping) is another thought.

I looked at the site and have decided not to use it for two reasons. Number one, I don't bump anyone no matter how much they offered. Number two, I don't share tips with anyone.
