Derek doesn't work for Stingray anymore. I think those folks should be our priority. Where is the 'like x infinity' button when you need one. I really like the idea of selling to those people who have demonstrated a willingness to play by the basic rule of 'buy your music for every copy that you use. It is my hope, skeptical as i am, that ANY surviving or new karaoke producer in the Us becomes successful enough that they will be able to start rewarding those people who have supported them in earnest. I would love to see soundchoice/pep sponsoring contests, giving stuff away etc like they did in the glory days. An Advance milestone disc after producing enough music and sending it to everyone who bought the first albumn would be a fantastic accomplishment/thank you. Finanally i LOVE the idea that I could potentially have access to music that the general public doesn't. It could certainly be a feature that I could advertise in a show and i am willing to pay the premium price to have that exclusivity. Now all that being said, wheather i contintue to purchase music from PEP will be heavily dependant on keeping the promises it has made already. Fortunately, at this time I have no reason to believe that they will not -James

I think those folks should be our priority. How would that be unfair, if those of us who haven't bowed down to the Mighty SC, were able to buy the new songs?? We would pay for them, just as anyone else would. If you are water marking them, and adding security, then you wouldn't have to worry about them being sent out into the net to be pirated. Anyone who did that would be a moron!! Limiting yourselves to just your licensees is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I, for one, have told you, time and time again, I may not want to play your games, but if you ever were to make your stuff available to buy, song by song, HELL< I would have a field day!! I would even replace all my old disc based stuff with downloads, if you made the back catalog available, especially if you remastered them so they sound better. In the mean time, prepare to be BURIED by Karaoke.net, in sales , popularity, and happy customers.

this is a good point Jim, he has but a few discs and no more because he doesn't want to do the audit (nor does he have enough to even get audited) but would be interested in buying the downloads. and he should be eligible because he if completely compliant with SC... play original discs get audited or HELP don't play SC at all so he is following the rules. i haddn't thought of that before, but i don't see how he could be alone.

Actually, I pulled all my SC. My player has a 60 cycle hum, and I haven't figured out a remedy. Nothing else does it. I have two players and they both hum. One is brand new. So, the last few months, I haven't used ANY SC. So, THAT would make me compliant, too. I don't have the capability to play the discs, so I don't use the product. I have been getting along fine, buying downloads to replace the songs I want to sing, or that my people want to sing.

Since he has and plays original discs, or played them when he had the equipment to do so, he would be eligible for ADVANCE immediately. And I would be happy to sell to him.

neur0mancr wrote: Will that require some sort of audit or certification first. To make him eligible for ADVANCE? What are they going to audit?? I don't use the brand anymore. I could show them my 38 discs, but I haven't used them outside of my house, for months. See, I didn't buy my SC discs for running shows. I bought them for my own use, 10 years ago. I have only had my own show for the last two years. Most of them are Head Bangers and various band discs. Stuff I like. I got laughed at here, cause I have the two Creed discs, and the Nickelback disc. I don't even sing a lot of the high stuff anymore, because I have lost some of my range. The stuff that is popular from those discs, I have managed to replace with purchased downloads. I was asked, by one patron about the kind of stuff I sing, and how I choose it. I told him I sing what I enjoy. I do not enjoy much modern stuff, or "top 40". I am not a Country fan, and I don't like rap ( besides I am not very good at rapping). You have seen the requests I have made of KSF. Some examples of what I sing now : The Hands That Built America - U2, Watch Over You - Alter Bridge .45 - Shinedown Born Under A Bad Sign - Cream or Albert King depending on my mood Rattle That Lock - David Gilmour (SBI and SF put it out, for some reason SBI's version is better) On the Turning Away - Pink Floyd Anything from Sabbath, Ozzy, and Dio Need Your Love So Bad - Fleetwood Mac, (Though, I do it Whitesnake style) And many, many more..........But as you can see, I don't sing the run of the mill stuff, unless by request.
