We're market testing a new pro downloads site for our digitally-remastered, high-definition karaoke videos with full motion backgrounds.

We've bundled new releases in packs of 20 songs with a free bonus track. We're also offering catalog supplements in bundles of 500 and 1000 songs for those that want to upgrade to the newer look and add some bang to their entertainment.

We believed we've solved the issue with receipts and re-downloading lost bundles. We're also offering a sale on all bundles until Friday morning midnight that gives a 20% discount on all product: use the coupon code gimme20kc at checkout to receive the discount.

We'd be interested in hearing your feedback on how the site looks and functions. You can see it at http://www.karaokecloud.net.

Provide the tracks without the color, full motion backgrounds. Using a solid black background is much easier to read.

I recently started converting all of my full color HD tracks from KaraokeVersion over to solid black background at the request of my singers.

Chris: We're in the process of bundling the plain-background versions as an available option. We should have this completed shortly.

Any other feedback about the site, aside from the content?

So what's up with the names of the packs? Do they offer any significance? I assume an updated pick and choose area is coming soon. I can appreciate the modern content for many KJs but it doesn't suit my needs. I prefer to purchase 20-40 pack credits and use them as I want.

I'll pass until you have available black backgrounds, individual song purchase/download, and bulk credit discount purchases up and running.

Being forced to buy a whole pig just to get one piece of bacon as a business model is dead in the water.

Streaming aka "rent to never own" is a just a bad joke.

You mean you didn't like the idea of buying the entire disk, loaded with duplicate ancient country songs and other filler, just for that one song that a singer requested? Manufacturers like to call that "diversification."

The object of the exercise here is "monetize" and you are not cooperating. if they don't bundle a couple of usable songs along with a whole bunch of duplicates you don't need, then you would end up buying all of the "good stuff" too soon and they wouldn't be able to make enough money off of you. Get with the program! This is all about the redistribution of wealth – redistributing your wealth in particular.

No special significance to the package names, just branding.

We hope to be able to offer individual songs in the near future. That's a scaling issue, where managing 25 products is doable in the context of all our other tasks, and managing thousands isn't, yet. We're testing ways of automating as much of the process as we can, and hope to be able to offer singles soon.

I'm not certain if the system will support credit purchasing, but I'll see if I can find a plug-in that will work.

Thanks!
The packs you are offering are a great idea for the KJ just starting out. But they probably won't appeal much to the established KJ. I look at the song lists and go:

Got it
Got it
Don't need it
Got it
Don't need it
Don't need it
Don't need it
Could use it

So it isn't worth the investment for a pack where I can't use half or less. These would be appealing to the KJ that has singers asking for modern stuff but most do classic rock, metal, grunge or country. If I have those, I am mostly golden. If I don't have something, being able to pick it up with an existing credit makes it easier to buy on the fly.

If I were to put on my marketing hat I could offer up all sorts of suggestions, but I will stick with just one suggestion -

- Make a mobile version. The current site looks fine on a full PC, but not so much on a handheld device.

Roger that. Incrementing "demand for singles" counter.

Do we really prefer a credits system over cash purchase. I've checked into it and we can definitely support a credits system, but most of those as implemented seem designed to extract money from you that you can't use. Example: credits are sold in packs of 10, and products cost 6 credits each. You'd have to purchase six products to use all your credits. It just seems a bit disingenuous to me, where a straight-up cash purchase is clear and immediate.

That said, if there's enough demand for it, we'll support it.

Chris: the responsive version of the theme isn't as responsive as we'd like. We're making changes that we think will help within the context of the theme.

By all means, pop that lid. I'd love to hear your suggestions on better marketing.

Well, my idea of credits would be one credit will get you one song. Pardon the following numbers.. They may not even closely resemble real numbers. Buy 10 credits for $20 Buy 20 credits for $35 Buy 30 credits for $50

The more you spend the better value for the credits kind of thing. Then, all I have to do is find a song, click buy and it uses one of my credits. When I get low, I pick a credit pack and pay for it.

Once you purchase a song from KV, you can download all formats available. No need to convert. They have a plain background format for most songs. I always download the cdg and color mp4 formats for each song.

By Convert I meant re-downloading in HD format.

I don't want to buy "packs". I just want to download the songs that I want. Make the HD versions available as single downloads.

Got it, the discount is built into the credit pack purchase. That seems more user-friendly than time-limited discount sales, but limits our ability to run specials if we can't allow the discounts to stack and might risk some user dissatisfaction.

I'll try to find a way we can use both rolling credits and cash purchases with multiple discounts that stack.

Others can chime in, but I think you are on the right track. We need to be able to get a request on the fly as quickly and easily as possible. Having already purchased credits goes a long way to increased efficiency. Also, the credits would not necessarily need to apply to your packs. Buying a pack out right would be just fine IMO. You already have value built in and that KJ is sitting at home looking to make a larger purchase and will be spending some time integrating the packs into his library. I'd recommend keeping the credits for the single track purchases, just to keep things easy.

BTW, while the other song pack do not work for me at the moment, I think its a fantastic idea for the KJ who is just starting out, creating a new rig or filling in. Have you considered making some packs that are more focused in a specific area? 2014 Country female singles.. The Grunge pack... Hair bands 1977-1978.. crooners of the 60s I'm just throwing sample ideas out..

if you want to run a special promotion for an event, you can apply that special promotion price to a credit pack and still use the system that smooth described.

Just as an example, tricerasoft frequently runs holiday promotions on their most popular pack, which is 25 credits. They are normally work out to around 1.60/track and during holiday promotions they can go as low as 1.20 which is actually cheaper than their higher bulk purchases. They can still purchase the higher pack credits if they really want to, they just end up spending more in the end, which is their choice so has absolutely nothing to do with the site

That makes a lot of sense. Just to make sure I understand what you're telling me: sell rolling credits with discounts for buying larger numbers of credits, and allow those (or cash purchases) to be applied to singles. Keep cash purchases for larger bundles for KJs looking to fill out full catalogs, and discount those on special promotions where desired.

This is something we're looking at, and again it relates to being able to manage a large number of products with limited time and staff. The marketer in me loves it though, and as a customer I can definitely see the appeal.

Understood, that makes a lot of sense also.
