the lens your cleaning is just a focus lens, you also have the lens under the focus lens to clean if you can get to it, most of the time you can't. depends on how the pickup assm was built.
There is a reason to my approach. Alcohol dissolves the "greasy" oily elements that might end up on the disc when handled. Water does a better job of getting rid of non oily smudges (soda, beer, ketchup etc). If you purchase 91% then dilute it 1 to 1. It will still dry very quickly!
PS I never said any thing about using it on the lens.
