If you can sleep at night knowing that people may only like you because you mimic words in a book, then more power to you. Here's the thing. Not all people want you to tell them what they want to hear. I personally like people who are honest and don't follow a script in a book. In fact, if I ever find out that someone has read any of his books, I instantly have a very high distrust of that person, because I then know that they believe in the art of bullshitting people to make their way through life.
Life is about doing what you believe in, and if bullshitting people is what you believe in, to me, that's not a very honorable life. Have you ever taken a Dale Carnegie course? I bet you never have because your objections to him are way off course. Is being genuine truly listening and showing a real concern for people b/s? That is what they try to teach you not quoting from a book. The books are a small part of the course. You cannot realize the true benefit of a Dale Carnegie course by just reading the books. Is being genuine truly listening and showing a real concern for people BS? YES is it is, because concern can't be taught. You either care or you don't. If you need to be taught, then you're just acting. He doesn't teach people to care, he teaches people to act like they care, and there's a big difference. I know this because I personally know someone who follows his teachings and I hate to say it, but this guy is a real prick because of it. Yes, his business associates love him, but when he gets home at night and away form his sales job, the act is over, and it's quite obvious the Carnegie method is turned on and off like a light switch. There are genuine people in this world, and there are people who actually care, and those people help make the world a better place. However, you can't take a grown adult who doesn't care, and turn them into someone who does care overnight. The best you can do is teach them how to act, but acting is all it will ever be. If Dale Carnegie wanted to produce people who ACTUALLY care, he'd be taking them on trips to impoverished countries. That's not what he does. He creates actors and he teaches that it's ok to "pretend" to care when you don't. He creates a world where we don't know who we can trust because now more and more of the people we thought were genuinely nice, were actually acting the whole time. As people start to realize this, they lose faith in others, and the actual level of caring out there DROPS!!! People like Dale Carnegie are more of a threat to humanity than you realize. He's actually convinced people that breaking the "thou shall not lie" commandment is actually a good thing and it will get you further in life, and people like yourself are buying it hook line and sinker. He's just another cult. The cult of pretend. I'm sorry you can't see it for what it actually is.

His goal was to learn the secrets of success from the most successful men of his time and to share those secrets with others. You don't want to learn or use those secrets, fine. But bad-mouthing Carnegie to drive others away from them isn't so fine a thing. There's an expression for such behavior. "Dog in the manger".

I could go on but why you have made up your mind about it. Have a great day!
