Well, I broke down and bought a new Tascam 8-track mini recording studio. We had so much fun (and work) putting together a couple of CDs back in the fall using just a single track Sony hand-held recorder and Cool Edit Pro, that I thought it might be time to take a step up.
Several of my 'regulars' want to have their own CD, so I'll have no shortage of volunteers (or, guinea pigs).
So if you don't see me around here for several months, I'll be attempting to figure out how to operate it. I'm a technical Luddite, so it'll take me longer than most of you folks, I'm sure.

rickgood wrote: I believe that's illegal. It sure is. But you know who cares? Other hosts. Know who doesn't? Singers. It's not like he's recording other singers so the singers can sell or broadcast the recording. Recording singers is pretty much the same as doing 70 in a 65. No, I don't condone it, but I look at how things happen in the *real* world, not the 'perfect' one.

Illegal??? Let's not jump to conclusions before you have all the facts. For example... if my karaoke-singing friend Joe wants to sing a song he wrote while playing his guitar, and I want to subsequently add my incredible drumming skills, and my sister-in-law's keyboards after that... and I record and mix the whole thing... then burn it to a CD, do you really think the authorities would come to my house... break down the door to my sophisticated recording studio (my rec room)... slap me in cuffs... and ship me off to prison?
Oh boy! You've got me scared now. I'd better return the unit and see if I can get my money back.

Maybe get all your best singers to do one Eagles song and one Metallica song following along with the karaoke discs. Mass-produce them and sell them on Craigslist, E-Bay, and of course, in a street corner kiosk downtown in front of the concert venue. Call the album "The Metallic Eaglets." I'll email you all the Metallica and Eagles MP3+G tracks you'll need in just a second.

I've recorded singers in the past, hell how many time have you seen someone have their friend record them on their cell phone? How is recording someone singing a karaoke song any different than recording a demo? It's not for profit... Although I do accept tips!

Last night, I had an epiphany. The CD should not be called "Metallic Eaglets," as previously suggested.
It has to, must be called......"Lars Henley"

It was a joke, but I wish I had purchased the stock on the day of Trump's inauguration.
