So... whatever happened to the Karaoke "No-Fly List" ???

Are these artists sending armies of lawyers out to make sure nobody is singing these songs in karaoke shows?

Or, did Congress pass the "Karaoke KooL Act" that allows public performances of all artist's songs?

Just curious... asking for a friend actually...

The no fly lost has nothing to do with people singing. It has to do with manufacturers being able to create and sell or not.

I was thinking it was certain artists that do not want their music to be made in to karaoke.

With the ability to remove vocals from original track and make our CD+G tracks, they don't have much choice.

Sometimes it's the artist. Sometimes it's their publisher that calls the shots. Sometimes publishers relax and allow for karaoke, then others will rescind the license for whatever reason and the manufacturers have to pull the tracks. I noticed Karaoke Version / Karafun just lost a ton of tracks from Tom Petty, Eagles, Scorpions, and a few others I can't think of off hand. Luckily I physically bought and downloaded, but those that want those tracks (or were used to singing them from the streaming site) are now out of luck.
Creating tracks has been around for quite a while. The question is what will happen to them or the bar if/when they are nailed by the alphabets. I guess there has been a couple new ones added, no longer just BMI/ASCAP/SESAC.
