They are referring to using the pro subscription only. Just saying. No other software has to make a differential between pro and amateur use because they don't offer any home subscriptions. They don't have the right to block you if you don't use the subscription to play outside files in a professional environment.
Karafun is supposedly discontinuing local file support soon requiring if you want to use your own music, it will need to be uploaded to cloud storage - ie community

One of my older lady KJs had issues with her "Legacy" program.
I suggested "OpenKJ" to try.
She loves it.
Simple, free, available.

Then I guess there's another reason why I don't use Karafun. I refuse to share my library with anyone else.

Since day-one, I've been using WinAmp & plug-ins to do my shows. (I know, I know, Don't rub it in). I'd never found it necessary to have a record of individual singer's historys, or names scrolling across the screen. Agreed, they'd be "nice to have", but not really necessary.. A half-dozen years ago, I decided to finally get with the program, and purchased Just Karaoke... but I found the learning curve for this ancient host to be too intimidating.

Lately, of course, many of the popular tracks are only available in MP4, and can't be used with WinAmp, so I decided to purchase Siglos a few months ago to kinda keep up with the times. Whether the program is too complicated, or whether I'm unable to learn, or most likely I'm just too damn lazy to spend the time to learn... I'm still using WinAmp, while Siglos sits on my back-up rig.

I'm not ashamed to say that my computer skills are basically zilch, and often tell people that my desk-top computer (the one I'm typing on now) is from the coal-fired, steam-driven days, but I really must learn Siglos, and do it soon, if for no other reason than to keep track of singers' songs, since my memory is beginning to slip... and the aforementioned ability to use MP4 tracks.

Wish me luck.

Tell her not to upgrade to Windows 11 because it doesn't work on it.

Try changing compatibility modes on the shortcut or EXE file, set it back to windows 7/8/10 ... Ni reason shouldn't work

Don't know what I did but I got it working. I think all I did was wipe out the OpenKJ folder and reinstalled the software.

I have made up my mind for DJ and karaoke I will be using VirtualDJ. For bar karaoke shows I will be using OpenKJ. VirtualDJ allows me to concentrate on the DJ experience while I would rather be dealing with OpenKJ's remote requests format for the bar shows. OpenKJ's web browsing feature inside the request box allows me to pull up their database and search for the song that they requested that isn't in my library.
