I don't recall much about Wicca.  What I do recall is that the handful of individual's I've met over the years have been kind, mellow, and VERY into naturopathy, homeopathic healing, and all I've spoken with have been fascinating to chat with, extremely intelligent and certainly not (to my awareness) Occultist's, or Satanist's..Pretty much "From the earth" I suppose, to me this religion makes ALOT of sense..At least what little I've read of it...If a person can get past the Witch Stigma many of us grew up with, these are fascinating people that've had to put up with alot of descrimination...

I know people have a tendency to laugh at some of these seemingly antiquated belief's,  yet in New Mexico (or was it Arizona?) the medical profession couldn't find out what was causing sudden deaths. It was an old "Indian Doctor" that helped the medical field link Dengue to the far eastern plague years back... The Indian Doc said
"When it rains, the mice come out". Deer mice from the rain were responsible for Hantavirus that was spread thru insect's and other means.

Billy, I think they tend to separate themselve's from Christianity, yet I think there is a group of Christian Wiccan's..  I don't really know...So I found this...You'd probably have a better Idea regarding the origin's than I would.

Wicca
Wicca is a nature religion based upon beliefs and rites believed to be rooted in ancient practices. Wicca claims a direct connection to the ancient Celtic tradition, which is thought to be more in tune with natural forces than Christianity and other modern religions of the West. However, rather than see Wiccans as members of a religion, it might be more accurate to see them as sharing a spiritual basis in nature and natural phenomena. For Wiccans have no written creed which the orthodox must adhere to. Nor do they build stone temples or churches to worship in. They practice their rituals in the great outdoors: in parks, gardens, forests, yards or hillsides. According to the Wicca FAQ page,

"Wicca" is the name of a contemporary Neo-Pagan religion, largely promulgated and popularized by the efforts of a retired British civil servant named Gerald Gardner [late 1940's]. In the last few decades, Wicca has spread in part due to its popularity among feminists and others seeking a more woman-positive, earth-based religion. Like most Neo-Pagan spiritualities, Wicca worships the sacred as immanent in nature, drawing much of its inspiration from the non-Christian and pre-Christian religions of Europe. "Neo-Pagan" simply means "new pagan" (derived from the Latin paganus , "country-dweller") and hearkens back to times before the spread of today's major monotheistic (one god) religions. A good general rule is that most Wiccans are Neo-Pagans but not all Pagans are Wiccans.

A good general rule seems to be that there is no single set of beliefs or practices which constitutes Wicca, though one belief seems to recur: An it harm none, do what you will. Also, some rituals seem to recur.

Wiccans practice a number of rituals associated with such natural phenomena as the four seasons, the solstices and the equinoxes. Their symbols are based on the connectedness of Nature to human life. For example, they celebrate summer in a fertility rite known as Beltane. Rather than pray to some unnatural god beyond all experience, Wiccans seem more concerned with self-awakening, with arousing their connectedness to nature and nature gods, female as well as male. Their rituals seem to be metaphors for psychological processes. They sing, they dance, they chant. They burn candles and incense. They use herbs and charms. Often, Wiccans favor herbs to traditional medicines. In group rituals they express their desires to the community. They don't cast spells. They ask for blessings from north, south, east and west. They meditate. They don't cook weird poisonous stews in cauldrons. They don't fly off on brooms. They don't pray for harm to their enemies. Because Wiccans seem to worship nature and nature goddesses and gods, they can be called pantheists.

Hey Keith and Karyoker.  Why the hell does AARP constantly send me stuff in the mail now ?   What the heck's going on here....Is this organization trying to get me to invest in a plot or something ?   I really need an organization saying,  Welcome old fart.....You now qualify for our help because based upon your age, you're pathetic. :(

I'm insured with AIG, safe driver pool,  I pay $126 every 6 months...SInce I work from home, I told them it's a leisure very low mileage vehicle... You think I could possibly beat that with AARP ?  Just basic coverage needed in accordance to the state of CT.  No ticket's or infractions in over 10 years...

(I'm so damn straight it's humiliating)

There are loads of AOL rooms.  Perhap's I should stop in one and read what's being said....  Of course on AOL, who know's what it is....  Probably some sort've camouflaged D/s room with submissive males that have a dominant female fetish, and they like to be punished by role-playing...

"Yes Mistress Gulch, can I lick your broom handle mistress?"

I don't understand terminology such as "Neo-Pagan"

The Wiccan's I've met are not at all judgmental.  Some of them are into the healing art's such as Reiki, crystal healing, etc.  My own observation is that ALL that are Wiccan's are astute people.  These aren't superstitious fools by any stretch of the imagination..They know what's going on around them...I learned alot about herbal supplement's and various things like that talking to one woman who's a herbalist and naturopathic MD....(was once a medical doctor, or Nurse Practitioner) and got into natural medicine....She was Wiccan, for how long ?  I don't know...but VERY grounded in chemistry, and physic's....Fascinating woman...Yeah she dressed in black, and had the cats-eye....

There are spiritual and natural laws that determine eternal outcomes, paths of souls, rewards and punishments according to the true workings of karma. All creatures are influenced and bound to these laws. A spiritualist is one that can listen to the trees and learn from the higher power which is (and this is how I differ from wiccas) a sum total of all knowlege which binds all souls together and permeates all atoms. It is not a seperate entity that judges and punishes.  The laws of karma are based on all pertinent things and without bias provides a justice that truly reflects the crime or good deed. I have no problem believing that the higher power used and influenced the theory of evolution and the arguments about these things are borne out of ignorance and lack of understanding of natural things.
A spiritulist while not professing to be a christian truly understands the sermon on the mount and some ahere to these principals more (religiously) than those professing to be a christian. They realize that there are spiritulists in all tribes, religions, and do not judge or condemn or try to tell others how to worship.. They say look inside and find your god.. For they know as a person evolves and learns the natural ways they will eventually wind up where the original destination was.
We all come on this side to learn certain lessons and progress on a spiritual path and there is no one or any god or any government that has the right, knowledge, or power to tell them what to learn or what roads to go down.  In one life one must be evil to learn good and visa versa . One must hate to learn love and....
I have studied different religions snd have tried to adopt the things that I believe in.. The ones that parallel the true laws. And I would be comfortable in any house of worship or religion and have been in many and respected their ways and accepted and participated in their rituals...For I talked to them as a shepherd and a light not a judge...

There is an error in Kappys post Wiccas do spells but if you do a bad spell it comes back 3 times for karma  reigns big time. A wicca is a white witch and knows the natural laws. and only does spells that promote loveand happiness..
