Now, I dunno about everyone else........ but it would literally annoy the h3ll out of me to hear MYSELF singing every time my phone rang.  Or is that what it is......... where it plays yourself singing karaoke? Cause that would be dorky, IMO anyhow.

Now, I'd have one of someone I KNOW singing karaoke, but not myself.

What WILL they think of next? lol

I assume it's literally Karaoke by phone Charmin,  Yet I'm not sure.. I was looking up the history of Karaoke, and in the description it mentioned phone karaoke started catching on in part's of europe as early as late 2003.  My assumption is you select a song with a code, and then procede to drive everyone at the checkout line of your grocery store crazy.

Yeah, and what better way is there to say "get well" then;

Goodbye my friend it's hard to die
when all the bird's are singing in the sky
we had joy, we had fun, we had season's in the sun

Well, singing OVER the phone is not a biggie. I'm dorky like that- I've done that plenty of times. Especially with my little brother in Virginia, we ask each other about songs over the phone.

But I wouldn't want my ringer to be me singing.

So you actually "miss" the phonecall because you're wanting to finish singing the song that's playing as it rings? Lol, I don't think I would do that either. Nope, matter of fact, I'm sure I wouldn't.

Yanno, I'm not into "boy bands", but I absolutely love the Westlife version of that song, they do an awesome job on it.  The song makes me nearly bawl like a girl though. (and I said "nearly"......)

Nokia's karaoke mobile phone launched
It's only available in Asia. Phew...

    By Staff, CNET Asia

Published: Monday 1 September 2003

Nokia thinks that users in karaoke-crazy parts of Asia will want to sing here, there and everywhere.

The telcom equipment giant has worked with Japanese videogame machine maker Taito Corp to provide mobile phone handsets with karaoke, reported Nikkei Electronics News.

The technology provided by the Japanese firm enables handheld phones to play karaoke music. To cue singers, the lyrics change colour as they unfold across the screen with the progress of the song, said the report.

The Japanese firm has already equipped Nokia's latest MP3-playing 3300 phone with its own lyric display technology, and will start distributing karaoke music on a full scale for the phones in Oct. The Finnish firm has begun sales of the 3300 model in Asia.

Specially encoded karaoke-enabled songs can be downloaded into the phone through Nokia websites via WAP or GPRS. Nokia has started promoting Mobile Karaoke function of the 3300 phone with in Hong Kong with pop stars Elva Xiao and BOY'Z.

Taito has revealed plans to sell the software to other companies. This will enable operators to create and distribute karaoke music, joining other mobile downloadables such as games and ring tones.

The Mobile Karaoke feature is available only in selected markets in Asia-Pacific.

Well, at least it only makes you "nearly bawl like a girl".  The dams in my tear-duct's break, and my feminine side start's flowing down my cheeks  (of my face)

Karaoke on mobile phones

In 2003, several companies started offering a karaoke service on a mobile phone. This is still a budding service and it is unclear whether this service will take root even with all advances in technology. However, some Mobile Karaoke providers, such as Karaokini, have begun to achieve commercial success. Karaokini is sold through Vodafone Live! in Greece and Malta.

Karaoke services on mobile phones most often deploy a Java midlet which runs with a text file containing the words and a midi file with the music. www.web2txt.co.ukare the first company to offer fully licensed blue screen Mobile Phone Karaoke in 3gp (mobile video) format which offers a much better end user experience.

Internet
New software permits singers to sing and listen to one another over the Internet with collaborators/audience from all around the world.

Karaoke in automobiles
Chinese automobile maker, Geely Automobile, recieved much press in 2003 for being the first to equip a car, their "Beauty Leopard", with a karaoke machine as standard equipment. Karaoke is often also found as a feature in aftermarket in-car DVD players

if you have video on your phone, you can do it.

I personally think it's a dumb idea... but seems if you have some kinda video screen, they'll find a way to do karaoke. I remember folks that thought doing it on a computer or over the internet was "dumb"!

I'm just thinking about shopping, or trying to relax in a restaurant while some kid pull
s out a cell phone, and start's singing "Plush" at the top of his lungs out've tune Matt...That could really be a last straw to someone's already bad day..

Foxe, you already can have a "Knowing me knowing you" ringtone

Might be time for more sophisticated signal Jamming devices in certain public area's...Nothing more romantic for a couple proposing, than having some person at the next table yelling.... "Huh, what did you say? I can't hear you I'm in some greasy spoon trying to get some grub, Call you back when I get outside"

Now that's even worse. That's all we need- more accidents because so & so was getting into the song- had to look at the lyrics cause they didn't know the words- and smacked the a$$end of the guy in front of him...... lovely.

I prefer to scream MY head off to a blaring radio, would never karaoke in a car either. Now, that's a lie I guess....... my husband bought some little box thingee one time that you plug into your car stereo's amp, it had 2 mic jacks & an echo knob, no on screen ..... but apparently it was for something like that. He said it'd be cool that I could "karaoke even when we went camping" if I wanted to.  CAMPING?!?! He must really think I'm an addict, I could not karaoke while camping, that would be too city-ish I think. Guitar at the campfire is one thing- and a must for camping- but not karaoke. I did try it in his truck just to see what it was like. And it was pretty lame.
