I run it no problems with Win 2000.

Only if they fit your needs.  I didn't care for the "less money" or free programs for what I wanted.  And again, I have absolutley no problem with the kma format, I don't plan on using these files anywhere other than my show so there is no reason why I should have the need to play them elsewhere or on other programs.

it's THIS kind of bickering that makes us laughing stocks, guys. What is good for one person is apparently not good enough for others. Or vice versa.

By all means, please put your opinion on the various programs out for all to see.
But just because you don't agree with the "free" or low-cost stuff, Dr. D, doesn't mean it isn't professional, or just fine to use. And by the same token, and here I correct myself in the process, the uses of the fine programs like MTU's Hoster, PCKJ and others provide the means of added options that the other programs may or may not include.

I found a real good program that finally does the video mixing and key adjust that I've been searching for years to do. But because of the slamming that everyone loves to do, I'll be keeping this information to myself.

I'm just tired of the fighting!

Was it freeware, or did you have to pay $$$?  Like 20$, $50, $200?
Ya know if you paid over x-ammount of dollars, it cost too much, or too little, or it might not do exactly what...or it may, or may not, it could be good, but it may be too cheap, or too expensive.  But you could be on to somthing, if it works for you...but still you may have paid too much, or not enough, becasue if it is cheap, in may be not as good as it could be if it wer more expensive, but the again, if it was expensive, it could be better becasue you paid sooooooo much for it, and for that ammount of money you should get more....on and on and on......

LOL  JK

In all reality, someone needs to post a sticky with all the programs we can collectivly find, and let the buyer/user figure out which they want (all of them out ther are sure to have a trial free version).  Then we can all quit bickering about software, and go on to more important thing...such as the GREAT QUALITY of BEHRINGER equipment IMO.

TAG...every one else is IT

I'm all for your comment about giving the new KJ an option!

my observation has been this:

1. Newbie asks about hosting software
2. Someone posts about MTU and their experiences that are positive
3. Then someone slams MTU for price or whatever and then says look at this brand.

Are we really giving the newbie an option to explore MTU? I think not...

I don't think you will find posts doing the opposite with other Mfg's so why with MTU

Why not just say this is what I use for my setups, or what do you want the program to do etc.

I've said enough on the subject. Most MTU users on this forum know what I'm trying to say.

Tag your it! LMAO

Hoster is a good program but lacks one feature that I like about RoxBox. The ability to DJ as well as KJ. While you may beable to play mp3 audio with Hoster, I prefer being able to fade to the music rather than having to wait for the karaoke song to end.

How would you know if you admit you have never used it. this is one pathetic thread.

If you are looking for advice, look elsewhere.

good point regarding not being able to DJ With Hoster. They are planning to implement it down the road. But not in the budget right now.

I use OTS/DJ for my DJ work and Filler Music and I have no problems with fade in and out.

but its good that Roxbox has it for those who really need it.

OH NO!  Danny and the exweedfarmer are NOT the same person.  To prove it I will do something un-Danny-like.  I will bash Roxbox but only a little.

No, Danny it is not a very good DJ program.  All you get is cross fading and this is accomplished by double instanting Winamp which is IMHO is an ugly and dangerous solution.  This problem will be addressed in the KJamp upgrade however, to be fair.  The buttons are too small and this business of switching between players is something we KJs who drink heavily on the job are not up for.  It's written in VB which means that it is slow by nature.  Roxbox is a good value for the money but it's twice the price of mine.   I am not using Roxbox and do not intend to switch because Roxbox does not allow me to put naked lady pictures on the singer's screen.  Which is something I am fond of doing.

All programs have their strengths and weaknesses.  I would hardly call it bickering to point out either.

Well, let me put my 2 cents in.
(I'm a home user so my input probably won't be that much value).
I love Power Karaoke Player Pro.
I realize I could have used Winamp and Audiograbber but I would rather use media player instead of winamp.
I tried Audiograbber a few times and some of the graphics came out ugly.
I'm just glad I found out about this forum!

I have owned Hoster before the last upgrade and chose to go back to my old program because I wasn't willing to shell out the money to upgrade my copy of hoster when any upgrade to what I use now is free. I am willing to wait for KJAMP to be released as it contains what is lacking in my program now. Oh and the top quote came from Weedfarmer not me.  When you can tell others apart let me know.

You are misinformed exweed, you can put pictures on the singer que screen in place of listing every song in the que with the next singer listed underneath.  And it's better than running two diffent sound programs in my opinion. A second instance of winamp seems more compatable to me than say winamp and PCDJ. I actually run two different instance of winamp one has all the plugins running the other has a special plugin that allows smooth transitioning to the DJ music. I have player one set to karaoke and the autorun turned off while player 2 is set to dj with auto run turned on.  when I hit play on the karaoke sides it fades to the karaoke and as soon as the intrumentation is reay to end I can instantly hit crossfade to the dj side. Oh and I NEVER drink on the job, not proffesional IMHO, but that's just me.

For those who are monitoring this thread that are looking to purchase Hosting Software in the future.

MTU only charges for upgrades when there are major format changes. I have have purchased 2 in 3 years I spent $20 on one and $49 on another. Interesting to note that I chose to purchase the upgrades due to wanting some of the features they were offering in the new versions. My current versions were working just fine!

I did not have to upgrade to continue using Hoster in my shows.

How do you do the picture thing?

Double instanting Winamp (or any other app.) may tend to confuse Windows, paticularly '98 and this will vary from machine to machine.  That's why I didn't do it in my software.

One must drink, it's necessary.

You go into file
click set picture
go to where your picture is and select it
hit open

there you go.

Does anyone know of a program (relatively inexpensive) that can back up my cdgs on a mac?
Am I opening up a can of worms?

I'm a ibm user so I really don't know much about karaoke on macs but I believe that Ktunes makes a player and might also make a program to import the songs. Just not sure you can reburn though.

kTunes is a karaoke jukebox for Mac OS X. In the Lite version, you can now rip (import), mix (make playlists) and play (from CD or from your hard drive), sort or search your library by name, artist or album, create custom playlists, show the graphics full screen on a second monitor or TV, change the pitch and tempo independently.
