This is the second time tonight I had to type this paragraph here.  I'm typing this to complain about the :head banging: emoticom I entered that wiped out the previous attempt at a complaint originally posted here to complain about the :head scratching: emoticom which wiped out a fairly long post in a different thread.  Rather than retype the post that initially got wiped out by an emoticon, I'm just retyping my second post that was also wiped out by an emoticom while complaining about my first post that was wiped out by a different emoticom.

Why is it that sometimes entering emoticoms wipes out ALL content in your posts at certain times ?  This is not a good thing..   Now I shall copy this to notepad just incase this post for God know's whatever reason decides it wishes to disappear too because I typed terms between : and :   that might remind some program in here to wipe out this third consecutive post as well....  <notice no emoticoms are inserted now> Grrrrr...

While this isn't a frequent occurence (perhaps one out've 500 posts) there ARE one or two emoticom's that have in fact wiped out post content more frequently but I don't recall what they are..

Is there a function in my user control panel that I can check a box on, if I don't want emoticoms deleting my whole message body ?

Assuming I had a life,  this would be quite annoying !

Yeah, my advice would be just skip the cute emoticons and stick to the words until
the gremlins can be exorcised.

You've got them in your computer too ?

I suspect that's why a few other's were saying they typed a long PM message, and for no reason it just disappeared, and they were miff'd, however didn't feel like re-entering the content.

Steven,

You ain't got nuthin better to do than retype anyway.....Stop complaining. LMAO

But, let's pretent you got less time, ok?...OK....Next time you got something to say and no time to say it twice, then type it in wordpad and then cut n paste it in the forum...If it don't work, then you still have the original text saved in the notepad window.

So Steven, ask me how the weekend is going with Donna...... :yum:  :worship:  :hi5:  :dancin:  :D      :O  :oh yeah:

I'm glad the weekend is over! I'm am too old for her fulltime....The dance pole needs a break too.

I'm being punished for it, tho....My A/C went out....Yep 85 degrees here and no A/C.

Parts stores were closed Sunday, so that means I gotta get out there tomorrow and fix it, then go to work at 4PM.....I'm hoping it's just the capacitor and not the compressor.

Amazing,  and I worked up a sweat friday and saturday going for a walk, it got up to 60 degree's here  LOL

I can't stand 85 anytime of year,  that's pretty warm for this time of year in your area isn't it ?  I guess something tropical is going on because I noticed the mid-west had a few twisters recently,  Isn't it early for those ?   I don't recall tornadic activity anywhere this early in the year...but I don't recall....

I seriously hope this country is spared the tropical storm activity and ferocity of storms you folks had in the Gulf area the past two seasons   :(    Horrible stuff...

We had a considerably warm winter this year I suppose,  not sure it even got down into the single digits temperature-wise... So if things are warming up, God only knows what this means for water temps in the future, storm activity, etc..

Government better get it's act together.

Keith,  you have central air ?  or window A/C ?   If it's a window unit, shouldn't be tough to know if it's the compressor or not I wouldn't think...  Of course if it is the compressor, it's finished.... I need to get a new sleeve A/C this year,  those start at around 500 for a 12000 BTW unit...Probably should purchase one now in the winter while they are cheaper....Assuming they still are cheaper off-season.. Haven't looked in a few years at A?C prices for smaller window and sleeve units I guess around 14"x25" standard wall sleeve size for around here..Needs to be an open unit, or one the vents out the back

I got a typicla central split system..."A-coil" and fan inside with condenser outside....I installed it 10 years ago....Installed identicle unit for my mom when i built her house next door in '97. They have been good units....She's got 1650 sq/ft,  I got 2400....So her's gets less use....My electricity bill runs 300 in summer, her's about 150....I heat with wood, she heats with tricity...So I even out on cost in winter.

I like to sleep in artic temps, so I installed window unit in bedroom....It still works :D

A sleeve unit is just a window A/C without the window adapter fittings....you and a friend slide it out of the case and take it out side and set it on the picnic table...clean the condensor coil and evaporator coil real good and pop it back in place...All you need is an air compressor, a garden hose and couple of cans of Coil Clean....A dirty condensor coil will cause high head pressures on the compressor and cut it's life in half...So do it every spring and it will last forever unless it experiences brown outs....It will also lower your electric bill. .. check the starter contactor to see if the contacts are burnt...See if the cap is swelled even just a little bit....You can keep a window unit running forever with a little cheap maint.

Yeah,  mine has been going since 1978   LMAO   12000 BTU GE unit,  yet I doubt I'll get much more time out've it... So rather than have it die mid-July, I might as well get one now... I have another smaller 5000 BTU window unit in the bedroom to keep us cool in the summer (us being me and my notebook computer, she's been a great room mate).. I don't like the heat and muggy stuff though... I live in a swamp area, bedrock, marshlands, etc.... in a valley... I could bottle Radon, and sell it on Ebay..

You got a window unit that worked since 1978?!!!! Wow!...That's pretty good when you consider that my last wife was a high maintenance '77 model and she totally crapped out already. LMAO

No joke, it's time for a newer model...you will enjoy smaller utility bills and a much quieter world.....Ha, come to think of it, so do I now that she's gone.

Steven, this is ironic...I never thought that I would ever be able to compare a wife to a window unit.....Go figure. :D

Yep, wait till you see the newer models out there! LMAO

Speaking of which,  decided I wasn't tired so I watched a new DVD I bought at the CVS next door for 3.99.  That and a Chuck Norris DVD that was also 3.99... I just finished watching Calender Girl Murder's.  Never saw that before.. Can't figure why it was rated XM  (extremely mature)...LOL,  Didn't even look "PG" rated to me... Wasn't the worst movie in the world, yet certainly wasn't exactly along the lines of Shattered, Jennifer 8, Copycat, or that other movie where the detective finds his wifes head in a box in the desert or something like that ?  and two of the Red Hot chili Pepper's show their brilliant acting skills  :(   That was pretty suspenseful, can't think of the name....  Was it "Seven" ?   dunno

Kappy, I've had that happen in PM's. I spent forever writing a message, then *poof*, it was gone. Ticked me off.  :banghead:

I've never had it happen in a thread though.

Well, I'm not Steven (that disguise was already taken by someone on here, haha) But I saw that movie & I loved it. But I'm a Jim Carrey fanatic anyhow, he's my favorite actor.  LOL
