I think Chris has been at a disadvantage because most of the genres that
have been sung are not in his style. It is incredible how he has been able to
create his own style with those genres. Another problem I've seen for him is
he sings hard which takes a toll on your voice. It didn't surprise me when his voice started to go out. He has put a lot of strain on it. As far as sex sells. Chris is HOT!

I keep making excuses for Katherine in my head because I like her voice. I really think nerves get to her. Fogetting the lyrics seems to show that. Yes she sings out of tune sometimes, but if you go back and listen to Kelly Clarkson in the old idol shows she does the same thing. I think
kelly Clarkson is phenomenal. Katherine reaches to her highest range. That is were she gets a little sharp. I don't know that the guys are pushing their range like her.
Chris seems to know his limitations. That isn't a bad thing.

I would probably defend all of them - except maybe Elliot(sorry Elliot) - Don't forget I'm an AI nerd.

Kelly Clarkson? phenominal? I think she is overrated. I admit Kathy is easy on the eyes but she (@$%&#!) up. I'd put Carrie Underwood over both of them as a singer. I'm saddened to hear that Chris got the boot. I wanted to see him go all the way. However, i still consider Taylor to be the best performance wise. But i doubt fans today are looking for a Otis Redding or Ray Charles. It'll probably come down to Elliot and Katherine in the finale. I'd love to see Taylor pull it out but it's hard to say. I'll definately continue to watch as long as Taylor is still in the competition. SOUL PATROL  :dancin:

Don't hate me, but frankly, Chris was just sooooooooooooo intense it gave me the creeps at times.  Yes, I was worried he was really going to mess up his throat (maybe he did, which he why he did softer tunes after that one night) singing that way.

I'm rooting for the real underdog, Elliot, who has not been given the exposure that Taylor certainly got singing his gratiutious (and I think unfair) reprise of "Hound Dog" the other night.

When it reaches this point, they are ALL just too good. There is never a "right" winner.

Taylor sung "Jailhouse Rock" and "In The Ghetto". Elliot did a really beautiful version of If I Could Dream. I'd said it before and ill say it again. Elliot has definately been underlooked throughout the competition.

Chris sounds similar to Ed K of the alternative rock group Live. His bread and butter is definately alt rock.

I think Elliot has finally been noticed!  I think as a singer with great versatility, he is just incredible.

I've been listening to the new songs Kelly has been doing. I enjoy her style and what
she can bring to a song. If you don't like that kind of music you probably don't like her. I really like her songs.
Now I like country, but don't listen to it much. I'm sure Carrie is doing great I just haven't heard any of her songs. I truely enjoy her voice, but it isn't my kind of music.
I wanted her to win last year.

I won't Elliot bash anymore and I will apologize for calling him Elf boy. I can like who I like without bashing the other contestants. Elliot is good, but like I said before his vibrato bothers me. Just a personal preference. There is no reason to cut others down and call them names for there opinion. When I was contemplating that thought I was thinking I was being unfair also.

Woah.... Babs, even though I think Elliot's voice is superb, it never offended me that you expressed your opinion of him. This is a DISCUSSION FORUM. So if you want to comment on the fact that Elliot's vibrato is waaaay too much iyo or that you think he has elf ears (bc hey, aren't we all agreed that looks play a part in the music biz) then you should be able to. You've never put anyone down for their opinions on here, to my knowledge.

Thanks sweetie - I was just trying to keep myself in check.
Reading other people's posts makes you wonder sometimes if you sound
that offensive.

You know what's funny about the looks thing? Elliot will most likely go places regardless of whether he wins AI or not. Once he gets enough money, he will be able to look as good as he wants. Money can buy you great looks today!...he he.  LMAO  LOL

As far as he physically comes across, one thing Elliot does have that none of the others have (and I've heard this from numerous people) is that sense of vulnerability he gives (it does come across).  While some people unfortunately view this as a horrible weakness in this age we live in, it still touches a number of people (and most likely, a LOT of older women no doubt).  This worked wonders for Frank when he was just starting out.  Paula has gone on record now as stating she wants Elliot to win.

I agree with the above, that REGARDLESS of the outcome, Elliot will have a very long and successful career in front of him.

Yeah, im tired of seeing a girl win American Idol based on her looks. Chris will sell the most albums though   It doesn't matter if he's gone from the competition. Taylor will keep it entertaining for me! Kathy and Elliot should really work on their stage presence. Taylor blows them away when it comes to the entertainment factor.

Pop music is the devil.

Actually from the awkwardness of his movements, I'd say Taylor could take a page from Elliot's book and know when to hold still.  His performances really suffer for all that spazzing stuff, which will never reflect on his CDs, if that's what they really want to sell.  I think he's a nice guy but rather limited.

I'm a newbie when it comes to American Idol.  Frankly, I hadn't seen a Wednesday night show until I saw the Tivo'd episode Friday night.  Bigdog is definitely right when it comes to the Wednesday night shows.  This night was for sure a commercial filled waste of time.  You could have wrapped up the essentials in 10 minutes easily.  And while I thought Chris was a very good singer, his expression upon discovering he was kicked off was priceless.  Only because it was a true "reality TV" expression in response to what the voters decided.  But not to worry, I think he'll get a recording deal on down the line even if he is off AI. He deserves that. :)

well the story is that,  alotta people votJMOing for chris got ....hiiiiii ty for voteing for me from Kathern,  but who knows....i thought chris would win it all to...its not my type of music but he was great doing it...elliot was and is a karaoke singer, to me anyway...JMO....a great  karaoke singer but still...i feel that if i can go to a karaoke bar where people can out sing you/Elliot, then he's NOT the next american idol, he doesn't have the IT factor, at all...his vabrato is really to much, chris has it also but he seems to know it and tries to work around it, Kathern sings great, looks great also...but these last few weeks shes sucked big time.....
i agree taylor does intertain, but that alone doesn't sell cd's...u can't see him jumping around on a cd...the style he sings has been done and done and redone....nothing new there...hes hot right now because u see him every week...sure he can sing but alotta people can sing...can he dance? nooooooo...loll...but he sure jumps and squrms funny...

if Kathern doesn't pick it up this wk, and i'm not talking about her skirt, shes history....i see elliot and taylor fighting it out in the end...but i also feel the REAL  AI left last wk...of the 3 left taylor will win it, by a gray hair....buttttttt Chris will sell more cd's then any of them...JMO

The question is - Who do you think is next to kicked off?

I think "OK what now" is correct, Katherine has to step it up or she will be next.
I can see anyone of them dropping the ball though. They've all had bad weeks and
good ones. I think the next person to be kicked off will be the person who doesn't do well on Wed. It won't be judged on their over all ability from all the weeks. Out of the 3, Katherine has been the least consistant, so she most likely will be the one not to do well. But if she sings at the top of her game she won't be going anywhere.

It may turn out to be a "politically" motivated vote next week with McPhee hitting the road again.  I think a lot of Chris fans are mighty sore that she didn't get the axe last week (she DID give the least performance the night before) and might bolster the votes for Elliot and Taylor.

I feel she has been doing beautifully up until the last few weeks.  She has a magnificent voice, one so good that even if she's off a little it sounds terrible for her.  It might be the pressure is really getting to her.  How would you or I like to stand out there LIVE every week and perform? Woooooweeeee!!! These kids have more courage than most pros.

One thing you guys are forgetting. This music has to apply to a large spectrum of people, not just punk rockers. AND IMHO chris was a PUNK rocker. Polls showed 68% of the votes came from the south. That's why it went this way. I predicted this yesterday.

Also tuesday night a lot of people watching were there just because it was music of THE KING. The wouldnt have voted for someone who wanted to turnuin it into a screaming pun rock song. Elvis fans like his music the way it was.

Actually what he dos is considered main stream rock. IT's too bad that music that came from an artist whose only chance at fame came from the smartness of the manager of the artist rather than the actual talent was used to unseat the only one who had the real thought of what america wants today- simon's words not mine.  Consider that elvis while having average talent used publicity and the wiseness of a great manager to make it big. I'd rather buy Chris's music than anything Elvis ever did.

OMG... chris over Elvis? say it ain't so....u think chris is really THAT good to upstag the king of rock and roll Elvis?  i think not....i think Elvis was very talented...Chris only has 1 side...Rock...so  he will appeal to ONLY rock lovers, Elvis appealed to every age group, no matter what he sang...young girls to the older ladies...there is no comparison....i'm not a die hard Elvis fan, but i would never make that statement....JMO

Although I watched the program a few weeks back for a long 10 minutes, (consequently haven't a clue what's what), I'd think judges who are often either talent scouts, or talent scout wannabes would consider what Billy has mentioned (selling and marketing potential) to be a tremendous asset.  The ability to produce CD's, and actually become something on his own (with a boost from the right folks) is likely what judges look for. There's usually some invested interest in their decision, they want to feel significant, and be able to say "We found this person", and All gain by such a person breaking into the industry.

I think the judges were just as shocked as anybody!     :crying2:    It's not really up to the judges .. although they can have their say when they critique each performance. I just wonder how accurate the voting really is. Taylor seems to have a rather large fan club. I really wonder if perhaps many people figured that Chris would win this... so they cast their vote for the underdogs just to get them through. Not thinking Chris would be eliminated. I dunno.  :dontknow: I seem to get sucked in to this show every year! I have NO clue who will win this thing now! I can't really say that I would buy a CD from any of them. Taylor is more of a performer than a recording artist IMO. Elliot has a beautiful voice for recording but isn't much of a performer. Hmm... I'm not all that impressed with Katherine. I thought Mandisa (sp?) was waaay more talented. Ah well... it's just a show.   :newlol: But I'll but my two cents on Elliot. Because he is the biggest underdog of the year! :2cents:

Tune in next week! :drums:
