Is Canby anywhere near Forest Grove? Both my brother and sister live there.... I've been promising to visit for umpteen years now. Maybe I could swing that trip and kill two birds with one stone! :D I mean.... finally visit my wonderful family whom I miss terribly!
Of course.... if anybody comes to Northern or Southern Cali... I'M SO THERE!!! :oh yeah:

Cool, more potential people coming to Oregon! Yes Sheree, Forest Grove is within driving range of both Portland and Canby by freeway. Forest Grove is about 40 minutes west of Portland and Canby is about 30 minutes south of Portland. Charmin and I are both in Canby.

Well, dang me...
This might turn out to be a regular hootenany. :dancin:
Canby...is a pretty small town. And where we karaoke.... is a teeny tiny place. I think, Odie, that we should seriously talk to the Spinning Wheel about that one weekend there. I'm sure if we talked to them early enough, we could get them to agree. The guy who was there.... was talking to me about running his set up anyhow, if he got weekends there. Of course, hell no, I want to sing and have fun.... so we'd have to find someone else to run it. But I think he'd be willing, and the bar...if we're promising a crowd. FYI to everyone else: The Spinning Wheel is about 1/2 mile or so up the road, with a really huge dance floor, and a stage, and pool tables.... much nicer for a crowd than Denny's. (oh...and good food too)
This will be fun. We gotta tour PDX too though one night, to include as many others as we can...SwingCatKurt, Knightshow, Tig, and (I think) Flipper... and Lonman runs a show up the road a ways too. They gotta be included.
Dang right I'm gonna be...wherever it is. Heck, I can hitchhike to PDX if I gotta. :D

Sorry........ Portland. People around here just seem to shorten it for some dang reason, guess I am used to that. (our Portland airport.... PDX)
Not a dumb question, I guess I didn't think about typing it that way.

I think I am having a blonde day...I just couldn't understand why we would all go to the airport to sing..So I thought for sure it had to be something else...
Thanks for the clarification and the laughs

Well I hate to disagree with Charmin, but unless the Spinning Wheel starts having karaoke on a regular basis on Friday and Saturday, I don't think they're going to get the band to give up one night for our crowd. I mean ten or so people isn't going to make them that much money. I'd say do Friday night in Portland and reserve all the center tables at Denny's way in advance for Saturday night. If Denny's is just too sucky for some reason then head back into Portland (Flipper's show for sure needs to be included for part of a night).
Or just head to the 7-11, get some hot dogs and crank up some karaoke MP3's on the car stereo in the parking lot!

Well, last I checked....... The Kindlings were not playing "every weekend" now, I guess they were failing to draw a large enough crowd. I'm gonna go see them, maybe even tonight, and see what they say. (nah, scratch that, tomorrow night)
The owner there... is currently hungry for whatever crowd he can get to bring in a bit of $$. I'm pretty sure with what we'd all spend on drinks, he'd be willing if he wasn't booked. Guess we'll have to see. Besides, I'm going to bring most of the crowd I know too... Try to get them all rounded up for one night. (not at Denny's though, if we go there...) That place just gets on my nerves, and to me- is a bit of an embarassing spot to take people who come all that way for a night of karaoke. They need to revamp that place. Good place, great KJ's, and a fun crowd... it's just too small, and nothing to do but sit, sing, and drink. I mean, not even a dance floor...

OK chief. You're the boss! But the ONLY thing the Spinning Wheel might have over Denny's is that it's a lot bigger. The KJ isn't as good as Rich or Linda (no PJ though!), the sound wasn't too good that one time -- too cavernous and the monitor system wasn't very good, remember? Hopefully that's improved. "Sit, sing, drink AND gamble and watch sports on TV. True Paul hasn't put in the movie theatre and mini Walmart yet! Denny's is way too small, but it's got a lot more good personality then the Spinning Wheel will probably ever have. Are we having our first argument here?

Haha, the dance floor and pool tables..... and breathing room.... are what's doing it for me. And I forget sometimes... that doesn't mean alot to you. I'm usually the one trying to *tush push* in the small area with friends at Denny's, haha, while you and Lonnie sit it out. LMAO No, the sound was not as good, but you gotta realize- he was not even entirely set up when we were there. He still had his other speakers and his big screen to bring in. He wasn't the greatest KJ as far as having the sound all set up, but he was very friendly I thought. And more than willing to take suggestions, you gave him quite a few... and he was very receptive. We'd have to go a few more times, on a more crowded night, to get a fair judgement of him. I just thought he had a great personality, and was willing to do what it would take to GET his sound better. And........ it was loud. :D Quote: "Sit, sing, drink AND gamble and watch sports on TV. True Paul hasn't put in the movie theatre and mini Walmart yet! Paul wont do a dang thing, as long as money keeps coming in. For instance..... nice air cleaner he put in, eh? LOL Linda's personal one is better. And yes, I love the atmosphere of Denny's, and the KJ's there are my favs..... even Troy, haha. But, it's just the size of it. (You know, "size matters") :D
Nah, this isn't an argument, just a difference of opinion..... c'mon Don, you've seen me "argue" a couple a times. And I haven't thrown a dang thing at you yet.

OK, I'll go along with this Spinning Wheel idea this ONE time! My loyalty still belongs to my beloved Denny's! LOL A big dance floor just encourages that hideous dance music that PJ was playing the other night. The focus is on singing I thought.
Well, we'll see how the Spinning Wheel is doing soundwise. Maybe he has everything in place now.

I guess make sure there's a somewhat reliable head count of people planning on showing up before making any promises to the Spinning Wheel owner.

Uh....... I was actually thinking of flipping him some money to do it, and let him know there's no promise on head count. I'd agree to pay for our own private keg, but heck.... everybody would fight over the beer brand. LOL ..... And, Lonnie would drink it all anyhow.
And, I know where your loyalty lies. But, just cause it's my local hangout, and the fact that I know & like the KJ's.... is not enough to keep me there. Criminy, Paul wont give.. so why should I keep giving him my beer (uh- vodka, haha) money?
And what may I ask was wrong with that last dance song? IMO it was a fun way to end the evening. I thought you left before that even started... you were gone when it was over. Any-who, we'll have to see about stuff as far as where we go. Heck, if it's only a few people extra, it might be just fine at Denny's. I'm sure we'll all be laughing and talking most of the night anyhow, not thinking of dancing.
