Hey Larry, did you have to catch the chicken too. I tried that once when I was a kid and I think I burned some serious calories and nver caught it.

Yup.  I had to catch the chicken too!  It helps keep one nimble (did you see the first Rocky movie?).  We had the chickens in a fenced in area so catching them was a little easier.  Once caught, though, they try to peck you so there's some danger there.  We had an old stump with an axe stuck in it and that's where I did the deed.  Figuring out how to hold down a struggling chicken while getting it's neck stretched out right and then making sure the axe falls on what you want it to and not something of importance to your own physical well-being ain't an easy thing.  A sharp axe helps, though.

I guess it helps to be motivated.  My folks were poor and I knew that if I didn't bring in supper there wouldn't be any supper.  Even then my philosophy of not missing meals was very well developed.

In winter it was also my job to keep the furnace stoked with coal.  Once my dad got a huge stack of old railroad ties from the railroad that ran past our place.
They gave them to him just because he was willing to haul them away.  The creosote made those ties burn like crazy.  We cut them into short lengths and burned them in the furnace instead of coal.  So every Saturday, rain or shine, it was my job to cut up enough railroad ties for the coming week.  I had a huge two-man saw but only one man (me) to run it.

But that was life on the farm.  You did what you had to do to keep going.

Larry

Oh man,  LOL...

I thought I could avoid this butchering content just by staying out've Karyoker's thread...  Now it's spreading.   I won't kill an insect except a mosquito,  but I once again eat meat,  so I need to keep my head in the sand regarding this slaughterhouse chat.... This is one topic that aint for me.

Okay Kap, I'm more than willing to drop it.  I wasn't that excited about it anyway.

Chuck, let's talk about something else. How about lusty ladies and the men who love them?

People can talk about anything they want.  Far beit from me to say otherwise.. Just put a sign on the door or something, so I know to stay away... Sort've like what the adults used to do when we were growing up, and they wanted to play musical beds

Busty ladies, Raquel Welch, mmmmm.

Oh you said lusty ladies and the men who love them, Raquel Welch, mmmm.

Just kidding. My GiGi is much better looking than my old "Raquel", not near as neurotic, and has bigger ...Assets, yah that's the word.

Busty, lusty, I don't care.  I just like ladies.  Busty is not a requirement but lusty is.  Other than that they can be tall or short. I don't even care about race, religion or nationality.  I have always found women to be endlessly fascinating.  Even though I  also find them endlessly frustrating.

Do you remember that movie "What Women Want".  I never saw it but because I figured the title alone was false advertising.  I always thought that if somebody could ever figure out what it is that women really want, a fortune could be made telling the rest of us.

What's wrong with neurotic ?   Why is there a stigma attached to that word ?

So true. Women would have to know what they want in order to tell us.

Sorry for the generalization ladies, just trying to promote the stereotype.

This is why I think polygamy is so dangerous, keeping one woman happy can kill you. Trying to keep more than one happy will kill you.

This is an area that confuses me.  Certain species of animal (Geese, certain birds EVEN fish-of all species) mate for life, they are monogamous. Loyal to ONE mate. They pick their mates... So are hominid's monogamous by nature ? or is the stuff we here such as "Men are made to cheat and act like pigs" at all valid ?   My guess is that there comes a time for emotional reasons MOST men (at some phase in their life and often MUCH later) ARE NOT polygamous.  That in time given several mates, there's ONE who they will become more attached to, and if given an ultimatum, WILL end up with that ONE female assuming infidelity means losing her. Not sure if I'd want to be on my death bed with three gorgeous females around me.... Sometimes emotional stuff accounts for something too... Yet in our culture being rugged on the outside, and emotionally tough in general or that "John Wayne" complex is supposedly what "Real men" should be like... Yet that image also F__'s up alot of guys...  It's not real.  It was disgusting growing up with constant

"Men don't cry",  "Men don't do that",  "Men don't enjoy that",  "Men need to make alot of money",  "Men control"....horrible...  What DO men do ???  Drink and knock out all feelings ?  Yeah, that's  it !  Real men are good it remaining numb.  Didn't work well for me,  I tried it

It is possible that hominids are inclined both ways to promote survival of the species. I recall that certain animals who are not monogamous also have a different set of boundaries. They also have a pecking order amoung the multiple females/males as the case may be.

There are cultures we have heard that still allow for polygamy. They too have a pecking order.

Maybe Chuck,  Yet wouldn't that make the inclination "polygamous" ?  Or is it conditioned behaviour, instinctual behaviour, or both ?  I don't know.

There are many I would love to meet. Many of whom would become board of me quite wuickly and vice-versa.

Unfortunately, with the convenience of the web allowing for vast numbers of people who share a common interest to socialize, it might be better that I meet no one.

EDIT: Being emotionally immature and with the number of hang-ups included, the thin facade that I have created would not stand the test of a personal meeting. I would fail by comparison to my online persona as has been mentioned more than once in this thread alone.

I think this is based on the ratio of women to men. Societies often change their views on polygamy based on this ratio.

Mormon's, I have heard, did not become polygamous until reaching Utah with very few men and a lot of women. That rule was supposed to last for just one generation.

How's the cost of living in Utah btw ?

<packing suitcases>

Right,  I don't know about this, but I don't know if polygamy was ever actual legal, yet not sure in certain districts around Salt Lake City the gov't was able to interfere with Religious freedom.  Yet we are talking about area's that are still somewhat antiquated, after all, doesn't Nevada still have Firing Squad as a means of execution ?  or is that Utah ?
