bought some things yesterday. I always use paypal!

I forgot to add the PayPal thing - the only one I got burned on they wanted a check or money order....like I said, dumb on my part - although back in the early days I did a lot with money orders with no problem at all. Also the shipping charges - I too always check them...a friend of mine was going on and on about a wireless keyboard and mouse that was sitting at $12.00 I asked him what the shipping charges were...they were $30.00. We ended up watching the bid and by the time it closed, they could have bought a brand new one at Walmart for the same amount of money as the reconditioned one. Also don't attach any large bank account to Paypal - I keep just a small checking account and feed in just enough to cover my purchases...it works pretty well.

Thanks folks. Yeah I already have a paypal account set up, have had it for quite some time now. That was the only way I was going to set up a Ebay account is if they took paypal. I've made it a point already to check out the feedback on several vendors there already. I probably wont be making any purchases til sometime next week. Just wanted to do my homework ahead of time. Now granted, some folks may think I'm being a bit nitpicky over Ebay, but think about it, had those folks taken some of the advice here today, perhaps they wouldn't have gotten ripped off either. So it's just a precautionary measure.

I think that was a smart thing to do James...especially if you are planning big ticket purchases. Luckily the one I got ripped off on was only in the $20-$25 range somewhere so it wasn't too bad - except I really wanted the stuff!! . All I had to do was check their feedback but nooooooooo I was too impatient - I learned!! Shortly after I made my purchase from them their account was suspended by Ebay. Best of luck too you - all in all its a great experience!! One more thing - to avoid the bidding fever, I put in the top dollar that I'm willing to spend and let ebay do my bidding for me....or I turn into a b1otch and snipe it out from under someone - I still usually come out ahead and if the item goes over, then oh well I don't let it get out of hand.

I think you can never be too nit-picky about stuff you buy on eBay. I'm no expert but I have been there for a few years and learned a thing or two.

Imena nothing abd about the people here who have sniped auctions.

People have sniped things that I used proxy bidding on. I always consider what is the item worth to me and never bid over that amount. I research larger ticket items and if it doesn't show up in my research I don't buy it. A few times, people have sniped something that to me was worth about $100 so that was my maximum bid. The snipers end up paying a lot more than they wated to pay for and far more than it's worth sometimes too. It's fun stuff. A few times they did me a favor by sniping, I'll find the sane item elsewhere suddenly for less than I was going to pay originally. I have even sent them a thank you note with a link to what they could have had for much cheaper.

A sniper can save you money sometimes. They can also give you a big laugh too.

Lol, I only snipe stuff I want, and stuff that I hate waiting for, without a buy it now option.. sniping is like having your own buy it now option.. and I mainly only do it with odd jewelry, (body jewelry, etc), so, it never costs very much to begin with. I just watch the item I want, and if it doesn't go over a set ammount, I snipe it at the last second. I have NEVER paid more for something, than I planned to. I ONLY buy things that I can't buy locally, or can't buy locally for a good price.. Like my armor ring collection... you TRY to find those odd things 'round here.....

Heck, i bought a pair of ski's, for 5 dollars, and 25 dollar shipping. THey were sitting there for 4.50, and 40 seconds left, and I was like, hey, good deal. Was an outlet type place that sold rental skis. They were 2 year old skis, and originally WAY more than that. I KNOW, because Justy has the same pair (He does GS). They needed a good sharpening, and wax job, but other than that... well, they were a damn good price:) I got sky's ENTIRE kids set, for 40 bucks, helmet, ski's and boots, and they were also a great brand, and near new. So, yeah, i snipe. Sue me:) Lol, sorry..... But, this is a good hobby:)  I am bored:)

You are one of the smarter snipers, you know your product and what it's worth to you.

If someone doesn't put their max bid on a product or their's is less than you are willing to pay, it's not a big deal at all. I have seen people who place a bid on something they don't even seem to want just becasue they can turn around and sell it for a higher price. I've done it myself.

Now, to get past the rules, and start selling my body on ebay. Sadly, i know I will get ripped off, simply because I want to:)

Please on every cdg you buy be blunt and ask them if they are originals or burns or copies. There are alot of people selling burns at original prices. I personally only buy originals as a CYA thing.
 Also it was mention earlier and in a post I posted yesterday  feedback  is soo important, Dont buy from anyone with private f/b you'd only be asking to get cheated. And as I stated also in yesterdays post Dont EVER buy from sherinhouston or sherismedia. ( same woman) Crazy Lady !!
 I dont have a regular person I deal with just have to shop around ! I spend quite a bit of time and $ on ebay and find it very rewarding to get the "deals and steals" I get. When you win an auction, its like the day after Thanksgiving when you get the last video game you and everyone who is there waited in line for since 5 am., " What a RUSH" !!!

I bought a laptop that PAYPAL had to pay me for.  The seller backed out or something.   Deal with the ones that have high marks.  Use 1 dedicated credit  card for Ebay only.  You will be able to spot anything fishy, easier.   If something does happen you can shut that card off without wondering about the rest.

From my admittedly not very objective viewpoint it looks to me like the "slightly used" could be ammended to read "like-new condition".  If everything I ever bought "as is" was the same kind of "as is" you are I would be a much happier guy.  "As is"?  You're so new you've still got the show-room sticker on you!

Like Eben I am concerend about the reserve price.  And what about shipping?

...as long as we're discussing Gilly's pre-owned status, I would like to offer my professional services to conduct a thorough 69 point inspection to put the issue to rest.

I suspect she is more like what us golfers know as a grade AAA "experienced" golf ball.

A man goes hunting through the bushes and finds what looks like a perfectly good golf ball. He knows it has been hit before, though there just isn't any way to know how many times, but he lies to himself and just assumes it has only been hit once. Either way, he feels that it is in perfectly suitable condition to hit again and again. That is, until he suddenly loses it due to his wicked left hook. Then some other guy finds it while hunting through the bushes, figures it has only been hit once, and the cycle repeats itself until the ball is just plain worn out and no one wants to hit it. That is, unless it is the only golf ball around and you haven't used your driver in a while. Wait a sec....what were we talking about again?

Just kidding, obviously. Well, actually I'm not. No really, just kidding. Maybe. Really though....

Gilly, are you getting the impression that several (well . . . more than several) think you've got a pretty classy chassis?  Now just so no one's nose gets out of joint, I would be less than honest if I didn't confess that this opinion extends to a whole lot of the rest of you as well.
